One way to get a wombats attention while hes down a hole, is turn your hose on and start filling his burrow!!! I did that to a wombat who had decided to make his home in my garden, and also wrecked the fence nightly as he went out to play with the other wombats. Sometimes he even invited them into my garden to play! I wasnt happy, and he left in a huff!!!
I promise no hosing of our forum wombat though!

I see my name mentioned a few times here but please note I have not even said anything, I have just kept out of it. That's because I am a good boy and don't want to cause any trouble and I don't like the naughty room any more since all the good stuff has been taken out and you have to do punishment like things while in there.

A five pointed star inside a circle HW.  It represents earth air fire and water and the fifth point represents spirit.  It is like a pagans version of a cross

Psst too scared not to be friends biggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin that is the funniest thing I have heard today by far Daryl.  In regard to being a pagan I have never and will never work with negativity to do harm to anything or anyone that is not who I am.  I am still the same person I was before I stated that I was a pagan nothing has changed except for being a little ticked off at the tone of that message is all blankstareblankstareblankstarefuriousfurious

Don't tell me Doug has a stutter now biggrinbiggrinbiggrinwink

I don't think any of us should have to put up with unsolicited callers, especially the elderly and vunerable.

I think it is very rude for their organisations to ask them to do it in the first place, be it for religion or business, if the callers are the brunt of the annoyance of those they are calling on, so be it, most would have some idea that people do not like people fronting up to there doors to sell or promote their wares of whatever kind so they should expect to be treated rudely by some householders, after all they are being rude for knocking on your door in the first place. It should be a good life lesson for andy students who may be doing it not to make unsolicted calls on people who have not asked for it.

It is very rare for us to get a door caller these days, I just tell them I am not interested in whatever they are flogging and would they please take me off their calling list, and that seems to work for me. We do not donate to charities that call either, they could be fake.

Any donations we wish to make are done at shopping centres etc or somewhere we don't have to involve our names and addresses, and that also includes making donations over the phone.

I didn't think you would get too many callers, with all those Wombat holes they would have to negotiate, and who wants to stick their heads down a hole to talk to people???   How do you knock on a Wombat's hole entry ? confuse  Blow a whistle ? confuse

Have never understood why you would want to play stupid games with people who either have genuine religous beliefs or (in the case of the electricity/phone/gas have-I-got-plan-for-you folk) are generally students trying to make a meagre buck. If not interested, just say 'no thanks' and close the door. Quick, easy and doesn't treat them like morons. Next time you are bemoaning the manners of 'young people' ask yourself what sort of example you are setting in your treatment of strangers.

Now first things first here. . . .I do not normally take offence to things said on this forum but I take offence to the tone of this particular message.

............

So please think twice before you state that we are being morons or not giving people a go or not letting religious people their right to preach.  It is not always so black and white and goddess forbid if it was, I love colour in my life.

I'm sorry you were offended Michelle, maybe if you had actually read my message it would have helped. At no time did I say that anyone was a moron, in fact what I was trying to say (perhaps unsuccessfully) is that I don't think the callers should be treated as morons. I am not even vaguely interested in having strangers preaching at me, I never buy anything from door knockers or let them into my house, although I do occassionally donate to charity when I am sure it is an established one, such as when the 'red cross calling' thing is on (or at least I did when I lived in a house rather than a van). But at no point have I been rude to any of these people, or spent more than a few seconds at the door with them. I do understand that there are unscrupulous people out there who prey on the vulnerable, I just don't think that gives me (or anyone else) the right to treat anyone who comes to my door in a less than cordial or polite manner.
