I haven't anything to do with motorhome organisations for some six years, so I recently rejoined the CMCA solos. I contacted the site that is about to declare "war" on certain businesses, re. free camping, etc. The following is their site, BUT, not the CMCA site. This one is cmca solos, "mates helping mates". Apparently, there is no charge, and from what I can gather, all you have to do is register your vote. Hope this helps free2bme1957@gmail.com
I have been watching the threads about this CMCA thing regarding "free-camping" with some interest.
I, like all the other respondents, would love to read what this is all about, and I understand there is a website ... and from your 'update post' there is a voting facility.
The 'contact' you have provided is an email address (free2bme1957@gmail.com) Is the process to contact this email address to register so they will provide access, and nominate, the website for the information and to register a vote, should we want to?
Cheers - John

What is the official name of the organisation where is it based? If it is "CMCA Solos" why have they chosen to use a name that would deliberately imply association with the CMCA?
What is the correct website for this organisation?

Has someone been able to actually read what this "issue about free-camping" is all about? I am very interested but the lack of direction or succinct information is a little frustrating.
Cheers - John
You have to join to be able to read it John, and that costs money I'm not prepared to throw away. That's what I meant when I said [on the other thread] that I wouldn't bother re-joining the CMCA again.

What's this.......where is it please?
Dawa
It's an article on the CMCA Website re. Free-camping Dawa. You need to be a member to access it, and it's not free.
Cheers,
Sheba.

Hey jimbo, I didn't know you looked like that (AV). Pull your pants up man, you are showing your hip bone and that is connected to your leg bone etc etc.
Talking of scams, I got a txt on my mobile at 1.30am Sunday morning, yes my mobile was on, it's on 24x7. The message said I had just won $250,000.00 in lotto. It all sounded a bit strange as the number had been blocked and no id at all. I deleted the message and called into the local Tatts shop armed with lotto ticket just in-case. Guess what? I'm not $250,000.00 richer. Not sure what it was all about though.

I am getting quite confused over this CMCA Solos 'free-camping' thing ..... I have now gone to the above website - a home page only. I can see nothing that gives me any information about their attitude to "free-damping". I also cannot see anywhere where I have the opportunity to vote.

Gday...
Some background I have found -
Online forum axed after legal advice THE Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia has scrapped its popular online members' forum. This follows legal recommendations after a comprehensive review of its content, controls and operation. The forum was used by RVers, including caravanners, from all over Australia to air a whole range of topics but was suddenly closed without warning in July pending the review. A statement on the club's website announcing the permanent closure says: "It is the duty of the CMCA board to protect the company against the risk of legal action." Writing in the club's publication, The Wanderer, the CMCA board said the review had been brought forward "by the continued frivolous and abusive behaviour of a small but incorrigible group of posters who continued to take liberties with slanderous posts" against individuals and the club's board of directors.
I believe, meaning I think I read 'somewhere', that the CMCA members had therefore formed their "own forum" - this CMCA Solos forum, so they could continue their communication as fellow-travellers. I cannot confirm that.
However, I would really like someone (pipes?) to provide some credible information regarding just which site this "free-camping information" is on ... and we can see what is the position being pushed and whether I want to be involved (or not).
Silence is golden ... but my ears are now hurting
cheers - John

The OZERV forum that has been setup by CMCA members due to the CMCA management recently closing down the Forum that was on the CMCA website can be found at http://www.ozerv.com/forum/. To register you need to be a CMCA member.

Why is pipes being so vague that others are having to "fill in the gaps"? Why can't he answer the questions in a direct manner himself instead of leaving us "second guessing"? Why has he started three separate threads on the subject?
Well said jimricho - it is all quite confusing - what have the CMCA got to hide that you can't get into their forum without being a member? At least be able to read it and form some opinions, even if you can't post as a non member, and why has pipes started three separate threads - who knows? And yes, whee is he coming from? Though while on our recent trip I did hear some "solo" CMCA members having a discussion on the heirarchy of the organisation - talking about rallying support to vote against some board nominees - didn't take too much notice, not a member, so not a lot of interest on my part.

I hope I can clear up any worries you may have about this topic.
The CMCA board decided to close the CMCA forum. A group of CMCA members have started another forum and to join you must be a CMCA member .This forum is http://www.ozerv.com/forum/.
It is not a public forum it is a private one for CMCA members only.
The CMCA boasts 60,000 members now and a lot are on this forum so from time to time the CMCA will be mentioned .The CMCA website is available for all to see athttp://www.cmca.net.au
There is a website http://www.rvvoice.com/ . This link was sent privately to some CMCA people and it did not come from CMCA . You are welcome to go to the link and make any assumptions that you wish. As far as I know it is not connected with the CMCA in any way and anyone who says it is should get their facts straight as they are leaving themselves open for litigation if they not correct.
