were at broken hill

Dad and I are at broken hill
long drive from  cobar to wilcanion, nsw,
then stayed at wilcanion , no mobile reception there
and very little here (at least with otpus) ,
we are staying at the Silver Spade , motel,
all are ok, but the roads out here are bloody boring!!!
lots of feral goats after cobar on the road, saw an emu and kangaroo!

were here till monday, and slowely make our way to adelaide,
dad has a couple of dinners on here and a  function on monday morning at the school
so may get half way to adelaide, its about 500 k's , so see how we feel towards later on in the day
we are both doing good, car is running well and enjoying the trip
its a bit different from traveling in the motor home,!
i can see the advantages of the motor home/caravan ways,
motels are ok but i think i like caravan parks better,
milo

Keep a good look out for wild goats during your driving during the day, also eagles down on road kill. Enjoy your trip. Bob

Glad you are having a good time with Dad, Milo. So nice you are back together again, even tho not in the motorhome.

As for Tom - huh - mine had a woman's voice, and I changed it to a man's because I wanted to argue with it - my grandson was navigator gps operator on one trip - had me going up farmer's driveways!!!!!

Happy and safe travels - smilesmile

Enjoy, Milo and Dad... and dont rely too much on Tom! We have one, and its quite dodgy, it thinks we are in places we havent reached yet!
Sorry you found the countryside boring... it is indeed flat and pretty dry but theres always something to look at.
How was Wilcannia?

Like you we have travelled in a motor-home and enjoyed it and then went to Cooktown in a car using only a few motels.

We really like Caravan Parks as it is a good meeting place and usually you can meet other travellers easily whereas 'motels' are stuffy and expensive.  We stay in cabins at Caravan Parks which are usually cheaper with facilities for cooking.  Sometimes the ame arenities are inside otherwise outside and slightly cheaper.   confuse

In very hot or cold/wet weather, we enjoy this type of accommodations and have become members with 'Top Tourist'.  Our 2-year membership has paid itself several times.   biggrin

Enjoy your travelling and keep safe.    smile

Milo - there are some really good things in Broken Hill - Whites Mining Museum is good - found a photo of my uncle there - he worked in the State Coal Mine in Victoria for years. The Sculpture Park, just out of town is great as well. Enjoy yourselves - and if you are going to meet up in Adelaide with CG, give her a hug from us.smilesmile

Milo and Dad,

If you get the chance, take some time to check out the Pro Hart gallery and take a walk around Silverton. We just spent 4 days up that way and will need to go back again to take a look at all the things we missed. I guess it doesn't really matter where you go, you will always find something of interest to check out. What a marvellous country this place they call Australia is!!! Just enjoy every minute.

Regards Marilyn and Rob.
