How to get caravanning for $10K

A series of articles only online at Caravan World

16 Jan 2012 | Phil Lord embarks on his quest to get rig-ready and on the road for under $10K. Will he succeed? And more importantly, how is he gonna try?

AS FAR AS NEW Years resolutions go, I have a drastic one: I want to set up a vehicle-plus-caravan rig from scratch for under $10,000.

Who am I kidding?

Caravanning is expensive. A new family caravan costs about $45,000 and a new tow vehicle costs about the same. If youre like me, with a young family and a mortgage, youll know how hard this cost is to justify, even if you managed to get the funds together.

So, if you cant afford new, how much is "affordable"?

you dont always have to buy the latest and greatest, for an example, look at
Beth54 , she has an old van and a small little car, does her well...

I agree, the best thing about camping, RVing and Caravanning is that someone with the cheapest rig can have just as much enjoyment as someone with the flashest rig.
