Hi all

Just thought I would start a thread asking where you are going this long weekend. We are of to Padthaway for a the long weekend with the caravan club and staying a few extra days just to take in some R&R. Hope the weather is not to bad down that way, not that it matters to much it will be great just to get away.

Gday...

I'm in QLD and it's not a long weekend here. Anyway, now I'm retired - every day is a holiday

And I think if you are going to Bathurst this weekend you may find it fairly quiet - Bathurst race is on Sat/Sun 6/7 Oct - which is not the long weekend. biggrin and if you are camping on race weekend, I understand all the 'circuit' camp areas are fully booked out. cry

Cheers - John

Nothing on my calender for a long weekend here in Qld, although I did see it mentioned by someone on this forum a few days ago and wondered if my calender was wrong.

This weekend is a long weekend due to the newly designated Queens Birthday Holiday - 1/10/12. The June holiday we had was for The Queens Diamond Jubilee. In some states it is a holiday for Labour Day. See the attached link

Long weekend in NSW too, but school holidays means we will stay at home.

However, we are planning to be at the Deniliquin Genealogy Muster later in the month, and then to the famous Greens Lake!!!

Thanks Robyn... we are moving due East from Canberra!

Good luck with all your packing and sorting... you are sure to take more than you end up using in the MH, but we all do that.

We're 'grounded', still waiting for the car to be returned to us with it's new fump injector pump fitted. AND wouldn't you know it, the tank for the solar hot water has sprung a leak!!! Holding my breath that we don't get a third problem and we can shortly get away.

Yes, public holiday on Monday in Qld for the newly changed Queens Birthday. Yes, we did have one in June. From next year it will continue being in October. Apparently it's to spread out the public holidays.

In the past, we've had no public holidays between Ekka Wednesday in August right through to Xmas.

As for what I'm doing for this long weekend, I have a wedding to attend on Saturday, and on Monday I'm heading bush! Doesn't matter about school holidays when you're heading bush.

A lot of confusion about the Queensland public holiday on 4 post I thought I had cleared the matter that is was a holiday and it was the first time ever this was happening , Then experts got themselves a pickle over it not being a holiday .

Thanks Beth for filling in the details of why the Public holiday which most Queenslaner are aware don't think many of them will turn up to work on Monday . I thought if I was to let the post know early in the post it would be helpful so that the people would be informed , But sometime I think we should read all posts before going off in another direction when the answer was in front of you , If you want and second opinion Google always confirms it .
