We had PMmd about going to Armidale and arranged to meet up at Oxley Wild Rivers National Park, that worked out well and Anton had cooked a stew for tea and we sat around a camp fire till late talking about our travels. We set off this morning to have a look around Armidale, it was cold and raining and I wished I was still in Townsville. Not to worry we did some shopping and bought meat for a lesson for me in using the pressure cooker. We stopped at Bendeneer just before Tamworth and eventually the rain stopped and we walked into the township.
Anton has given me some recipes and hands on training in the use of the pressure cooker so with that and the pressure cooker recipe book that sheba sent me I am ready to get serious about cooking.....................when I get to Greens.
We are going different ways after Tamworth, Anton down the New England Highway and I will go across country on the Oxley. I have enjoyed his company and we may meet up again at Greens
Here in Townsville its 15c and blowing a gale(25 to 30 knots) and "cold" to me . Its probaly better than NSW, but I suppose its all relative. If you can, try Little Styxe river, nr Ebor. Go the the turnoff to the Dutton trout hatchery, , and follow the dirt rd.(not if you,ve had heavy rain, though). Its a lovely spot beside a little stream with trout in it.Further uo the road is a magnificent lookout.Have a good time ,Bill
John failed to mention how amazed he was with my GPS skills! We ended up in places he'd never have gone to on his own! Neither he nor I will never go back to them either. Most times the GPS works well but at times it goes very strange.
Great to meet up with you, John, no doubt catch up down the track.
Cheers,
Anton
PS I just discovered John coverd my special abilities with the GPS in another post.

just a note f warning if you travel with loki (Anton) he is very into GPS and won't leave camp withput it being set.
The first time I thought it was a simple mistake when we went straight past a signpost telling us where to turn for the camp site and after a few kms we had to turn round and retrace our path. By the second day I was a little suspicious when we made a right hand turn into a residential estate on the outskirts of Tamworth, it turned out to be a coordinate that had mysteriously been set.
We decided to find a McDonald's in Tamworth and Anton was setting it in the GPS as a POI when I decided to take over, I am very used to finding Maccas and sure enough there was one just past our split up on the corner of the New England and Oxley Highways. He seemed amazed how easy it was to find our POI and the direction of our continuing journey without GPS, anyway we had an Egg and Bacon Burger with 2 senior's coffees and a chat and went on our seperate ways.
So the moral of the story is that if you are traveling with Anton and want an interesting day let him be the lead van
Very funny story John. Exactly what I think of GPS as well. I can find a maccas very easily, why do I need a GPS. How many people get led up the garden path with those things is amazing. Hope its not too cold where you are at the moment, sounds like you could be in for a bit of winter.
