Sorry it's been a few days since I posted but I've been busy!
While still in Bendigo, we had dinner with some rellies we hardly know! Two Aunties..one of whom was visiting from Perth, so that was a surprise bonus...an Uncle, and 3 cousins. What a great night we had! The 2 Aunties are Dad's sisters, and the only one's left of his siblings. We've hardly ever seen them in our lives, because of the distance from Qld, so this was a very special occasion for us.
On the afternoon before the dinner, I had a visit from a GN! Tess, aka Evie n Rhys, sis, bil and I had a lovely chat. Thanks for popping by Tess.
So we left Bendigo and moved on through Maldon, Castlemain, and Daylesford...beautiful countryside! We stopped in Maldon to see the old railway station and the beehive mine, but decided we couldn't stop at every town which looked interesting, or it'd take us forever to get to the Great Ocean Road.
So we're camped at the Slaty Creek Campground, CAW6 #523, on the bank of the creek, another lovely spot.
Today we left our vans and my car here..there were people around and some parks people putting in picnic tables, so we figured it was safe to leave them...and drove in to Ballarat to go to Sovereign Hill. It had poured raining last night so we were a bit iffy about the weather, but it turned out to be a beautiful day, with no need for the jumpers we carried around with us all day. We throughly enjoyed seeing it all, but sis & I have crippled knees now from walking up and down that hill! Poor old crocks that we are.
So we stay here again tonight, and move on tomorrow. We were told by another couple here to be sure to see the lake and the gardens in Ballarat, so we'll stop in tomorrow on our way through. From there we head west. We've decided to go over to Robe and Beachport first, and do the Great Ocean Road west to east. Not sure whats west of Ballarat, have to do some research on that yet.
Thats a good run down Beth. Great you caught up with Tess, a lovely lady. Can't help you with west of Ballarat as haven't been that way myself. Take it easy and rest those knees tonight ready for another day of driving tomorrow.
Thanks Marj. The knees will be fine for driving, not sure about walking around the gardens and lake though.
But I've taken our painkiller of choice, Panadol Osteo, and I'll take another lot in the morning, so fingers crossed. By the way, do you get yours on prescription? I got two big boxes for $5.40. Bargain!

When we head towards Robe via Ballarat and Hamilton we usually overnight at Wannon Falls Campground. It is about 15km west of Hamilton (Camps 6 Vic 643) roughly 200km from Ballarat.
