HW, from Collarenibri, a diversion to Burren Junction & Pilliga would be far more interesting than Walgett as both have free hot bore bath campsites that are very popular. From Pilliga down to Coonamble, then Gilgandra is a pretty easy run. Just a thought.

Provided you go Goondiwindi, Moree, Collarenibri, Burren Junction, Pilliga, Coonamble, Gilgandra, the only dirt you should strike is Burren to Pilliga. I've travelled that numerous times over the years & it's generally well maintained. If you go Goondiwindi, Boomi (apparently bore baths there as well these days), Mungindi, Collarenibri then you dirt from Boomi to Collarenibri, some of which I've found to be fairly rough on occasion. Another way that should be all bitumin is Moree, Wee Waa, Pilliga (my brother, who has been full time on the road for the past four years prefers these bore baths to Burren), Coonamble, Gilgandra. I'ts not uncommon for him to spend a couple of weeks there on his travels across the eastern states. This would also probably be the shortest option of the three as well.

Thanks Oldboar, Burren to Piliga is just on 40 ks and not sealed going by both my maps. Thats a bit long on a dirt road. I'm interested in taking some of the raods you mention. Just have to find the sealed ones.
I see the Weewaa route would be in from Narrabri, not Moree. Doesn't showe any roads down from Moree. After Weewaa there seems to be a lot of unsealed roads to get to Piliga and beyond.
My maps are HEMA 9th Edition (Revised July, 2011) and show that Narrabri to Wee Waa, Wee Waa to Pilliga, Pilliga to Coonamble, etc are now all sealed. Haven't been on the last two for a few years and it was a pleasant surprise to see that they've been done. Just checked Camps 6 as well & it shows them sealed too. Camp 395 is the one my brother often stays at Pilliga & highly recommends it. Only a couple of K's the wee Waa side of town and usually well populated by nomads. If you go there, I'd suggest you don't try going to Gilgandra via Baradine, etc rather than via Coonamble. The Pilliga - Baradine road has been known to be somewhat of a challenge at times, certainly far more than the Burren - Pilliga road which you were concerned about.

Looks like I could be travelling south without a working house battery. I noticed yesterday the gauge had dropped a little meaning power was going out of the house battery. Today it has dropped more. Now down to 11.87 - 12.00 Its digital and that is bar 7 of 10. If it hasn't been used for a while it will sit on Bar 9 but charge fully to Bar 10. So I went for a 100 ks round trip into Childers which should have been enough to bring the charge back up. It did not move.. It did not charge. Will go into the local garage in the morning and get it checked.

Will look into that more oldboar. Thank you. My camps 5 shows Wee Waa to Pilliaga to be unsealed so it must be a fairly newly sealed bit. It also shows Burren Junction to Pilliga to be unsealed.
I was thinking of turning west at Moree first and yes going down Coonamble to Gilgandra, definitely better roads.
Bil has taught me that the in-house battery should be charged on 240 now and then with a battery charger. Even the car battery should be done a couple of times a year. A bloke at Battery World told him that.
So he has rigged up his battery charger next to my in-house battery, and when we stay in a CP and I hook up to 240, it charges it.
So somewhere down the track I need to buy a battery charger of my own.
