Take Care Fires in NSW

Is there a website which has this information for people planning to travel in these regions?
I for one would like to have this information handy.

This site has quite a learning curve and is not advertised to the public for that reason.

I saw a headline about fires in NSW but no more info. Thanks Janette.
Also huge fire at Laidley in Qld with homes threatened.

We had a lot of smoke around here a couple of days back but I could find nothing online for Qld fires.
I googled Qld Fires and only got office info no matter what I clicked on. Nothing that actually gives a map of the fires or any info about them.

The Vic one was really good when I was down there. You could bring up the map and click on the red flags and get all info about the relevant fire. Why can't I find the same for Qld.

Victoria and South Australia have maps available with the fires located as icons. Western Australia and the East Coast have text links only. The East Coast has gone to Facebook and Twitter or have dedicated Apps for your smartphone.

What a shambles....

Sorry, I should have included a link to the current incidents on the NSW RFS website. Every fire incident in NSW goes onto the system and should show on the below link.

http://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/dsp_content.cfm?cat_id=683

I believe there are quite a few in Qld too.

There have been fires around Kempsey for quite a while.

Thanks for that Chris. I didn't think it was me having a seniors moment when I couldn't find the Qld one. I thought it was them making it hard to find.
We are often surrounded by smoke, I would like to know where the fire is. Son just says Its bushfire season, we get used to it.

When you have a look at these maps, don't become too alarmed as many are hazard reductions or sometimes are fires that are being left to burn out in isolated areas, but do become very wary when the weather is very hot and high winds are forecast, if you feel you are in a high danger area, move to safer location sooner rather than later, if it is possible do not drive through heavy smoke and if the smoke is moving fast the fire is probably close at hand.

If you do get caught in a fire while in the car try to find an area that is relatively clear stop the car get down on the floor and if possible cover yourselves with whatever is available and wait for the fire to pass, before leaving the car. You will not survive outside the car if a fire passes over you.

Thanks David,

We had a fire yesterday that was being controlled and within lines, unfortunately the wind came up and spread it. On the NSW website they  describe the incident and whether out of control or being controlled, or hazard reduction if you click on the blue flame.

Available in VIC is a CFA app for smart phones called Fire ready Downloadable from CFA website.Allow you to set areas in which you may be travelling and sends an alert when a fire occurs near you.

Also can check fires all over the state and check status-Size /area/how many crews attending etc

I feel it's a great tool for travellers,

Cheers,

Mary
