Looks like the best antenna available, and built in OZ. Will receive both horizontal and vertical polarisation feeds and has amplifier built in. Even has an option for Next G telephone/internet antenna built in. Omni directional too, don't need to point it at the TV transmitter, just put it in the air.

On my shopping list now...

I am sure John (Yeoeleven) will give us a glowing review when next online.

Arrived at Greens Lake on Monday afternoon and it is now Saturday afternoon, the weather has been windy and defied my attempts to catch a fish. It cant be my fault, nothing is, so it has to be the wind.

Went for a walk yesterday and came back via the lake and was invited to sample some carp soup with a Croatian couple who had managed to catch one, very nice but a little too much hot stuff in it for my taste.

Dennis has moved on leaving just Michael, Scotty and me the only Grey Nomads from the forum here but more expected today and after the weekend. (Rip and Rosie and also Janno (Jan) have now arrived)

As expected there are many weekenders here with their speed boats and skiers behind. Even a couple of small quad bikes but they are no problem moving slowly around here and riding past behind the toilets on towards the second lake.

Went to Shepparton earlier with Dennis and had lunch at Gloria Jeans and looked in more Opp Shops for my long johns, to no avail, but have been getting heaps about back flaps, still if I get lucky I can wear them back to front.

Apart from all these exciting things happening it has been quiet here but I have great TV all the major channels and most of the others as well. I look up the movies and am saving my movie collection on the hard drive for later. Only had to use the generator once here so far after a dull day the batteries showed 11.8 volts first thing in the morning.

Another exciting item of news the shower tent has been getting some use not much but some. Dennis suggested that I should take dated photos of the van and contents just in case of needing some proof for insurance purposes, this was duly done this morning and I now have a Van and Contents file in My Pictures.

Looks like I will be here until the trip to Tasmania on the 30th November so there may be fewer posts over the next month, might try for one a week unless the excitement builds up.

I will have to get something like that too. Sick of not having TV when travelling. Have the TV, can't get reception with the aerial I have now. Son in law said he will sort it out for me when I get to Echuca.

Yes it is a good antenna but falls short of multidirectional claims, mine is the 3000 fringe area without the phone addition.

If there is a free to air signal in the vicinity mine will receive it but it is all about connections, the fewer the better and it also has a booster requiring 12 volts.

They are very dear but got mine from Gumtree, a guy bought one for his yacht and didn't use it was still in it's box for $100, tried selling it on Gumtree but the populace didn't know it's value and I bought it.

Tried my hand at fishing late yesterday after a nearby camper gave me a carp he had caught and I cut up for bait, as usual without success. I used my smaller rod with a float and plastic lure but it surfed back to the shore on the waves. Have been told that sweetcorn works well just applied to the hook and hopefully will have more success today without the wind.

I have left a couple of these in my local water hole for you John' this one 3.6 kilo clean.

It gave off a very nice fillet, kept one fresh , and one is in brine for the smoker tomorrow.

Sure are beautiful fillets, nice catch.

I know that this will be hard to believe but I caught a 40cm yellow fin bream, the legal size 30cm. I posed excitedly grinning from ear to ear as has been suggested but the photos didn't come out and we let the fish go back into the lake before I found out.cry

I have a reputable witness who took the "photos" Michael  (nu one) but he rarely posts so you will have to believe me.

Apart from that all is going well here and several of our GN's have left, Rip and Rosie, Janno (Jan) Scotty01 (Peter) and Ole Grizzly (Dennis) but we are expecting more this afternoon.

Hi
That camp site looks terrific but I am on my way to Wangaratta Jazz Blues festival over coming week-end or I would drop in ....I am coming from just out of Bendigo so should be somewhere nearby on the way through.

Me thinks I shall have to go up and check it out myself when I get some more free days!

Hi John

Glad to see you are still having fun.  I am at Lake Colac at the moment, heading to Philip Island for a few days, then to the Winnebago Christmas Party at Lakes Entrance on 9th November.  After that I may head up to Green Lake for a cuppa with you.

Cheers!

Chris

I have one the same but really don't think they are as good as they say and as John said definitely very directional.

Been over all the previous posts but can't find a location for Green Lake. I'm assuming it's near Shep or Echuca somewhere and not the famous one near Horsham??

Do some of you people hold a get-together there on a yearly basis??

Thanks for the invitation. Unfortunately it's a little too sudden as I have a combination of work and a 50th to attend. The following Monday week, I'm off to Tasmania, so not this time however I'll keep my eye out for other events in future.

At least I'll be camping on the bush property where the 50th is being held this week-end, so I'll get at least one night away.

Aime.

At least I've now found it on Google Maps. Dullard me was searching for "Green Lake" as opposed to "Green's Lake."

Looks like a nice spot and I'm keen to check it out next time.

I'd like to thank "yeoeleven" for taking time out to chat with me today & give me some good advice on showers & taps.
I've popped in to Greens Lake for an overnighter & pleasantly surprised. It's really open with lots of space for all
though I imagine on Holidays & long weekends it would be crammed packed.
Bit windy today but very pleasant & freindly all the same
Cheers
H

Been a quiet week here at Green's Lake and am waiting for a lift to Shepparton to buy provisions and collect my cards from VistaPrint.

After a dull windy day yesterday I decided to give the van a treat and gave it an oil change, easier said than done because the distributor was touching the oil filter and it could not be removed. After consultation with Michael I decided to rotate the distributor allowing the oil filter to be removed, very carefully replaced it in the same spot because the angle and settings were fine and I didn't want to get it out of whack.

All went well eventually and now have been studying the manual with a view to giving it a grease and check the various oil levels. A job for tomorrow, no use rushing these things although the greasing may present a problem after reading the manual it just tells me to grease various parts and I am not sure which are what.

Have been reading about cooking carp but as yet have not caught another one, the weather has been windy for a couple of days and I have not had the lines out.

Have just met up with campers that I first met at Rollingstone and then at Claude Wharton Wier, couldn't be more surprised to meet up with them again and will be off to visit for their happy hour soon.

Our Grey Nomad numbers have not yet risen but expect that to change after the long weekend. The picture shows the rigs of the other GN's here plus a couple more views of the Lake     John
