With the greasing John A lot of things that were greasable in the past no longer are but lubricated for the life of the item. Places to check are, tailshaft uni joints and the slip joint on the tailshaft. Steering joints such as tie rod ends, whishbone ball joints and maybe even the uni on the steering box shaft. The other thing that you could look at is front wheel bearings, these would need to be removed and washed, checked and repacked if you were to do them, I think you van rear wheel bearings will be sealed for life type. But basicly have a look for grease nipples around any thing that moves and if no grease nipples sometimes a squirt of a teflon type spray on things like gearlinkages is in order. cheers blaze

Hi Blaze,
thank you for the detailed information on greasing the van, unfortunately I have never had anything to do with suspension and some of the items that you discuss are a mystery to me. I do have a Gregories Service Manual but it is still unclear. I was able to check the level of oil in the gearbox but the diff was too close to the ground after running the front up on levelling blocks, all in all I think it better to have the van checked out by LubeMobile. I like to be independant and do things for myself but in this case I will call in the experts.
I'm so pleased I MADE IT UP HERE !!! I thought family commitments might hold me back but I'm here. So nice to catch up with the oldies and meet some new GN's as well. Anyone else arriving before I have to head back tomorrow?? It was a very pleasant evening last night sitting by one of Michaels beautifully manicured fires. There are a few here who Might like to get some pointers in the art of fire construction and maintenance. A few safety tips wouldn't go astray either. Even with the added holiday makers, there is something quite relaxing about this place. Enjoy, all of you wherever you happen to be this cup weekend. Tess
There were two minus' when we were there a few weeks ago. Bl**dy motorbikes and the mens toilet was disgusting, according to bil. It wasn't that it was neglected, but it was vandalised, with excrement all over the hand basin and up the walls. We girls didn't use the ladies so can't comment on them.
The motorbikes were a real turn-off for us. Hope you have better luck at getting rid of them. I called the police as suggested by Marj, because they're not supposed to be there. But they came after dark when they were gone.
Love the sunset photo John.

Very busy here at Green"s but near the boat ramp was not the wrong place to be, sure the boats were launched there but they then took off for distant parts.
There were family groups near the channel between the lakes running motor bikes around and being generally noisy late at night, my friends from Rollingstone were camped there.
Your right Beth, the bikes can be a problem but they weren't too bad this time, specially for the long weekend. Only a couple down the far end. Some people obviously can't read. All in all the majority of the time up there is just lovely and since it's only a short trip away makes it more appealing. I was next to John and I have to tell you TV is Wasted up there. Just sit and watch folk battle the boats, it's priceless. Thank you all I had a very nice couple of days and a great run home, thanks for the music John, very enjoyable. RDO in Melbourne and no rain either!! I did speak to the big guy about that for you Rowdy...... Good luck in the cup to all those interested. They had another parade in Mlebourne today for the Melbourne Cup!! They have a parade for everything here. I don't remember them having one for my birthday, I'll have to look into that for next year. Cheers Tess
Some excitement at last here at Green's one of the locals who come here regularly had just bought a new Jet Ski and we were invited to go for a ride some of us declined the offer but I grabbed it with both hands. So off I went grabbing hold with both hands whilst we went zooming up and down the lake and down the channel to the back lake where it was rougher. I could see the speedo and we hit 80kph before slowing down to do doughnuts and various other swerves and reverses, it seemed to me that he was trying to unseat the oldie on the back. I am not sure how the picture will come out because there was no zoom and we came out very small in the middle if the scene but I selected a section in the centre and increased the pixels with a view to recognizing the passenger.
Later in the day Dick's father launched the speed boat powered by a Cleveland V8 and that went across the lake very quickly, I was invited to go for a spin and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I was facing the other way and could not see the speed but it seemed faster than the ski, again I was too busy hanging on whilst Jim threw the boat about with an amazing series of swerves and turns. No pic this time unfortunately.
Getting back to the Grey Nomad scene we have had a couple more campers Biggles (Jon) and Travelling (Lynne) as well as a day visitor Dun Wurkun (Ken) so our camping numbers are growing. John
Biggles (Jon) caught a couple of yellowbelly a feat which I have failed to achieve and they were cooked and we all were invited to feast on them, not sure who prepared the salad but it was excellent. Probably a combined exercise but I had no salad in the van so I didn't contribute. We all enjoyed the meal with Nu-One (Michael) and Shadyand me (Norma) doing the washing up.
The following happy hour presented a different side of the local gathering than I had experienced before. It was surprising, hilarious and certainly not to be repeated here on the forum but Travelling (Lyn) and Gunnago (Heather) showed different sides to their personality that had previously been hidden. No use asking what was mentioned because what happens at Green's stays at Green's....................John
