jimbo, the ONLY way to deal with this is to WRITE to the head of the dept or the CEO, cc the letter to ACCC and include a copy of your receipt (keep the origianl) and then the most important part for the cost of $3.60 put your letter and copy of receipt in a REGISTERED LETTER from the post office.
In your letter tell them you require a reply within 21 days from the date of your letter or the matter will be handed to the ACCC.
You will get a letter from them within the time frame you have stipulated.
Here's some info from google, I do realise that you don't want to contest an infringment but you could send your registered letter to this address below
Want to Contest an Infringement?
Reviews of infringement notices will only occur if the request has been made in writing. Requests are to be made within 28 days with written correspondence and copy of your infringement notice to be forwarded to the following: The CEO Gladstone Regional Council PO Box 29 GLADSTONE DC QLD 4680
Once a written request is received by Council, the infringement will be reviewed to ensure that the infringement was issued lawfully. A responding letter will be issued to you advising of Councils decision and next actions.

Good luck with the infringement notice Jimbo - as Wombat says, doing it in writing, sending registered post (has to be signed for and a record is kept) - as you say, you are not contesting the notice, just the fact they want you to pay it twice.

jimbo, the sooner you get the letter off the better, copy your bank satement and white out the parts that you don't want them to see, like any other transactions or your account name and numbers.
A registered letter usually takes about 7-9 days to get across Australia, don't ask me why but a normal letter only takes about 4 days.
They will only be closed on Tuesday, so get that letter off NOW or I will send Mrs W around to see you, and you will not like that.
University education drives bureaucracy, and where I come from the first requirement for university entrance is a full frontal lobotomy to remove any trace of commonsense. Thankfully most regain it after working for five years or so with real people in the real world but sadly in an insulated bueaucratic environment the lack becomes self perpetuating.

good to hear you have fixed it, but just one thing you do not know how to spell s h i t but that is only a small thing compared to your suicide in Bacchus Marsh, I just feel sorry for the people of Bacchus Marsh what did they do to you to have you make a mess of the main street.
I also agree with you in reagrds to the bureaucracy just a bunch of DH's

Gday...
WOW! I usually get meself in the deep do-do with my rash generalisations. But those comments take the cake

Guess it is proof we live in a democracy where we are all able to fully express our opinions irrespective of their value.

Not just mine, John. A belief shared by virtually every tradesman I've worked with over more than forty years. Perhaps the fact that for almost all that time we were in industries with a dependence on engineers, many of whom were inexperienced, had a major bearing on it.

but sometimes years of experience and being set in ones ways can blind people to the fact that sometimes their method is not necessarily the correct method. "I've been doing it this way for X years and it's always worked before" Anyway, this has diverted from the original topic however, it is unlikely the point of contact in that situation is a university graduate anyway. Just my 45.4c worth (adjusted for cpi and inflation)
