Looks like the damned "Murphy's Law" loves to strike at the least expected time.

I was looking forward to go with my old caravan. But when I got finally seriously working with her, I found, the damned white-ants got to it. Most of the roof is literally eaten away inside. The van stood for some 5 years next to my flat, which got actually badly white-ant infested. Landlord fixed the matter, but as it appears, they got also into my caravan. It served me for that time as a storage room. So I left some wooden planks and staff for repairs stand reclined against her wall. I left her on blocks of wood, taking wheels off, so white ants must have had a good way to go to it, as it looks.

Another yet, very expensive, life lesson for the future...

In the result. I got left with tent, swag, other camping equipment and a car, small Honda CRV, that is not to excellently well suited to fit into a lot of gear. This seriously limits my ability to camp near cities, where most of the time free camping with tents isn't allowed - with only few exceptions. 

Any way. I hope I can manage somehow, as I am still determined to leave as I planned. So, Ill be at the Green's Lake about the 19-th or 20-eth this month. I hope to meet some other GN still camped there, too :) It is now my first going out for longer period of time since quite long time, so I am quite excited about that. The more that I love fishing, and it looks like a promising place for fishing, out there at Green's, or somewhere nearby, if not there.

So, looks like my camping won't be as comfortable as it used to be before, with caravan, but well. Such is a life... When get some money together, may be I'll be able t,o get somewhere cheaply some old, but still alive, van as a replacement. I got my fold-able 120W solar with auxiliary battery set-up, so I'll be fine with powering laptop and other things usually used. It may be a bit squashy, with my cat, but I'll manage, I think :) I just hope, there won't be to many dogs, that would like to get their teeth into her... I used to live before in tent for extended periods of time, when working for some time seasonally as a fruit picker. And it wasn't to bad at all. I just got to work out the matter with Internet connection. I think Telstra looks like the only reasonable solution, with occasional use of Internet Cafe for any greater volume downloads that I'd need occasionally to do. I'm sure, either Shepparton or Echuca has it, or both would. All in all. After some explorations done, this Green's Lake camping area looks like a really great place to stop over even for few weeks.

well my sister is going to travel in a 2002 proton and free camp in a tent with her dog until she can save to buy a van so if she can you can. Best of luck

Well. I'm sure I will enjoy it myself quite well. As I mentioned it. I lived in a tent before for quite a long time, and I don't mind it at all. It is just quite a disappointment, when you invest money in something, that turns out to be total miss... But It was my own fault. I ought to check it all first, before starting to spend money. I still plan to be at the Green's Lake the 20-eth. may be 22-d. I look forward to fishing there. May be I'll still manage to catch-up and meet with some GN's still camping there? I look forward to catch a real monster carp, or something better still? biggrin

I'm sure I will enjoy it, too... I have a solar panel with plenty of power storage in 100Am/h auxilliary battery, and dual battery system. I go today to get my tarps, and with telescopic poles from my caravan anex, it will cost me just a little, to make quickly etendable RV anex. I plan adding later side walls, on both sites, so it will be full tent when needed, or just shading while traveling. In the meantime, I got for use my old tent in great condition for any longer stays. I'll put also large dimension plastic pipe on the roof, as a storage for fishing rods, etc. This way. I'll  save room in my interior. This ought to serve quite well on the trek. At least antill I'll save enough to get other caravan, trailer or small bus.

When you get to Greens, you will see John (Yeoeleven)'s annex - may be someting to look at - it is quite compact and gives him a bit more room in his Hi-Ace.
