Birdsville track

Hi Folks

I am hoping to go down the Birdsville Track in about a week north to south in a Hilux Matilda. Anyone any idea of current conditions on the track - other than hot - beforte we head that way.

We came down the Birdsville Track on the 19th October.
You will have no problems with the road if you take it quietly.

It was very hot, up to 48c one day when we were at Big Red. Be well prepared for that and take no chances.

The view from Big Red.

Which direction are you coming from?

The road between Birdsville and Beetoota.

Cheers,
Peter

Welcome back to from Fiji Peter and Margaret!
Wow, water in the clay pans on the Simpson, thank you for the photo. It was really really dry when we were there 6 years ago.

Hi guys, Pete's comments are good, check tyre pressures (lower, but ask a local what they run or ph Local police or Phil at Mungerannie Hotel who sells a lot of tyres!!!)

Do you have good comms, ie, uhf?

Good supply of water, fuel.

Dont speed..and have a fantastic trip.

Hi Folks

Came down the Birdsville Track the Sunday before last (computer problems since) and it was very smooth virtually all the way. During the whole trip we saw no other travellers on the road, only a couple of roadwoork crews.

We stayed overnight at the Hotel and Phil was very entertaining.

Thanks for your advice.
