RE: Women travelling alone

Thanks Monica I never would of thought of setting up 2 chairs, what a great idea.......I'm sure Jake (my dog) will think its for him lol.

A two-way radio is some thing I have been thinking of but didn't know how practial it would be, thanks for your advice.....I'm getting quite a long list now of must have's.

I have a 12 volt fridge which runs from the solar + 2 deep cell batteries but its quite small. I think I'm also going to need some other form of refrigeration, I would greatly appreciate your thoughts on what type/ brand would be most suitable, I'm on a tight budget and can't afford to make an error on my purchase.

Thanks Nomads, travel safe.....

I am a solo traveler apart from my dog and I love it! Have come across a few solos both men and women so far and I am only new to this lifestyle.

I/m sure whoever tries it will love it even tho it is a bit scarey when you first make the move! I am about to head off to WA from Adel straight after New Year so any solos or multipuls heading that way let me know and we could travel together or just meet up at differetn camps.

We'll be heading across (leaving Gulgong, NSW about 5th Jan) as well Peter. No problems with company if both at the same time, but we will only be travelling for a few hours each day (preferably before noon as we're both early risers). If the timing works out, we'll look forward to meeting you. With luck we may even run across Cruising Grannie as well

WendyV,,, I've seen when the "height doesn't allow for the vehicle"

It's something that you forget every now and again, I'm on my third awning now after collecting trees and signs on the side of roads where I went to park, sometimes the camber of the road doesn't help either, it tips you into the street sign, ouch!!! part of being on the road, you can't anticipate everything, good luck.

Kevin.

Don't rush into getting extra refrigeration. If your 12v fridge is a compressor driven one, it should work well. We lived full time in our van for some years, with only an under bench sized fridge. The little freezer box was fairly small, but I could pack quite a bit in it, provided it was "soft" meat - i.e. no bulky bones - like steaks, mince, chicken thighs, sausages etc. It wouldn't fit things like icecream containers ( but we don't eat dessert much); I used tinned or dried vegies rather than frozen ones. Try some travel first to see if what you have is adequate.
