Hamilton Common

After a couple of days by Lake King William we have driven to Hamilton Common Camps6 #160 there is an update because now there is an honesty box system requesting $5 per night. Worth it because there are toilets with $1 coin showers and a camp kitchen plus a grassy camping area with tables and chairs.

We first went to Lake St. Clair National Park there were rugged types with backpacks and stout walking boots everywhere registering for the various walks but all we wanted to see was the Lake. We walked down to the viewing area took photos and drove off.

The next attraction was The Wall at Derwent Bridge and for a fee of $10 was amazed at the carving by sculptor Greg Duncan. His work has so much detail and he has several exhibits of carvings depicting leather clothing that has to be seen to be believed, he captures the folds so well that I believed that they were real leather. The wall is 3mtrs high and ultimately will be 100mts long of carvings representing early days of life in the area. He is a versatile artist his work outside in metal looks lifelike. No cameras were allowed inside so the photo was taken from a brochure.

Arrived in Hamilton early afternoon but dont expect to find an IGA supermarket there, luckily we stopped 10kms before Hamilton at an IGA in Ouse, enjoyed the afternoon sitting under shady trees talking to our new neighbours when the couple camping next to us at King William Lake arrived. All in all a great day as we have experienced since being in Tassie.             John

Yeh, a few of us around Billeeee (Sickos or Psycho's or both), doesn't pay to be sane in this world, we'd be too depressed ! wink biggrin

Now we know what goes on in the camp stays in the camp, so I won't tell you about the young Korean girl at Cosy Corner (WA) that was showing John (Yeo) her Tae Kwon Do moves (even had a card showing she was qualified), not sure what John was showing her, but he was sitting at a table then too, but I can't talk about that.......wink biggrin

Another good spot is the small town of Miena, right on the Great Lake. At the Hotel, there is a small parking lot with power. $20.00 a nite last time I was there. Check in at the Hotel. Also a shop there and fuel.

In the Army Billeeee, that's what they would call a "short arm inspection"...the troops would drop them out and the Dr would walk along the line looking for any signs of nasties.....wink biggrin

 I thought there was something on his blog about it, but this is all I could find;

http://yeoeleven.blogspot.com.au/?view=flipcard#!/2012/01/cosy-corner-again.html

He must have been impressed with her "moves" cause later I saw him practicing Tae Kwon Do moves with his shower tent! He He....

I'm not sure if the Korean girl was worried about this super fit Ozzie, but I know she spent the night sleeping on an air mattress on the roof of her car, I noticed she had her headlights pointed in the direction of John's van ??????? wink biggrin

Returning to topic:-

Stayed on another night and went out at dusk to look for the resident platypus family, I did see one but it was too far away for a photo in that light but the night sky was worth a photograph.Hamilton+still+007.JPG
