Quite a dull day after yesterdays sunshine so I walked around Greens Beach and found a walking track suggesting a round trip of 3 hours, perfect just what I was looking for.
Greens Beach West Head Coastal Track.
I set off around 9am and followed the well marked path which turned into a long loop around West Head then joined the original path back to Greens Beach. I hadnt studied the map carefully and was getting anxious because I couldnt remember any of the track and not realizing that it was a loop was hoping that I was on the right track. The sea was on my right outward and on the left during the loop so I had to be ok.
I made a couple of extra walks one down to the beach at West Head and the other following a timber narrow walk down to a deep crevasse with pounding seas it was very windy but fortunately off the sea and not pushing me to the edge. One of the beaches is called Nudist Beach but it must have had the name for many years and no longer attracted naked sun worshippers, much the pity.
One section of rocks was reminiscent of Bay of Fires with an orange fungus growing similar to ones seen at Cosy Corner North. The walk took just over 3 hours and I was ready for a cup of coffee and lunch when I returned, the round trip was around 12kms. John
