Halls Gap

Lovely cp here - Lakeside top tourist park - down the end of Halls Gap at the dam wall. Only $22.30 with TT discount and singles discount!!!! Green grass, very clean and tidy, and new amenities block with individual rooms - heated swimming pool and delightful new owners. Gas bottle fill for $30 - is $32.50 at the garage for a swap bottle. Big kitchen, dining/lounge area. Am really enjoying this place and  have booked to come back in Feb for the Jazz festival! The red building is a bird with it's wings spread out. Very clever and just as interesting inside. No smoke from the fires over here. Delicious bush tucker lunch as well!

Gday...

I are pretty sure it is the Brambuck Aboriginal Information Centre. It is easy to spend hours in there.

Cheers - John

We stayed in a C/P in the town... cant remember its name. The C/P you describe Spida sounds much nicer. Thanks for the heads up.

Sorry Dougwe - that was my little old camera - needed one to fit in the handbag:) I see I need to explain pix too - thanks for the nudge:)

Lakeside Top Tourist is about 4km from the village heading south - tucked up under the face of the dam - Tymina Rd. Was called Tarbruk - or something like that.

For a town of 280 people I wonder why there is a Tourist info centre in a big flash building in town that sends you down to the Brambuk info Centre (in the pix) to get info on the parks etc. That centre is a great place and well worth the visit. Very obliging staff there and doing the same job as the tourism centre!

I came out of the Cultural Centre feeling very sad. What an ignorant arrogant lot of colonists - government and church in particular - to do so much damage to indigenous people. I know it has happened all over the world since time began and not just by the white man but I felt the great dignity of these people in explaining their history here without obvious malice towards their 'conquerors'. I guess history will never teach the lesson as there are no more undiscovered tribes for us to get it right for a change.

Hi Spida, I used to work at Lakeside when it was owned by the previous owners.  Went back for a visit last year and couldn't believe how much it has improved.  If you are still there, say hi to Les and Karen the guys who clean the amenities and do various other odd jobs around the place. (If they are still there). Really nice people I worked with them for three years at Takarakka Bush Resort at Carnarvon Gorge in Qld.

Cheers!

Chris
