Time to hit the road

Well I have been putting it on the back burner now for over 2 years but now I'm going again.
Could be the wrong time of year, but going to head to Tassie, as I would like to move there but will have to see the cost of living there.
Got my van packed, doing my last good-bye to friends, leaving the western suburbs of Sydney behind me.
This rain is not helping me but can stay dry ( I hope). Was going to hug the coast but been told this weather is hugging the coast and going to get a little wild, so my thinking is to head inland to Goulburn then hopefully by the time I get there ( taking my time and free camping and fishing along the way) the bad weather would be gone, then I can hit the coast.
travel from Goulburn to Braidwood then onto Batemans Bay, then onto Eden. I would like to travel the "Great Ocean Road " ( how do I get onto that road? ) as I have not done that yet ( 1 more thing to tick off my list ).
I hoping to meet some fellow Grey Nomads on my way.
Leaving Monday 25th Feb, thinking I will take about 4 weeks to get to Melbourne, but then again, who knows, I might even take longer. No plans.

A smile cost nothing to wear, but priceless to received

see ya on the road
"such is life "
Vince

Good on you Vince, get out there and enjoy.
To get to the Great Ocean Road you need to go to Geelong in Victoria. Its the other side of Melbourne. From there you go down to Torquay which is the start of the Great Ocean Road.

My sentiments exactly... take your time and smell the roses along the way. I've lived in a lot of country towns in my life and found the best way to get to know them is on a bicycle. It's so easy to stop a bicycle for a better look each time you see something interesting, or to take a short detour down a side street. It's not so easy in a car, so you need to remember to stop often and take a look around. Anyway, enjoy your trip, Vince!

From Sydney to Tassie - prepare for some culture shock! Enjoy your travels, may run across you as I am leaving Tassie on 4th March to do the big loop. Not sure what I'll do in VIC, if the wether is hot I'll head east, otherwise the main plan is to head west.

The GOR is easy to find as you head to Geelong as there are good signs to make sure you don't get lost!

Enjoy the open road, I am staying in a friends driveway not far off the road down to Geelong at present (motorhome is having repairs done to roof....) may be staying on for a bit so when you get down this way if you feel like a coffee break leave me a message.....friends driveway too small to fit anything else in but on street parking ok......that goes for anyone else passing thru this way!

Enjoy the journey, take it slow, Tassie when you get there is wonderful (well I thought so anyway, people are very friendly and country beautiful).

What is this Loki? You are coming backl to the big island!! Enjoy your lap too.

Hey Vince, how exciting hitting the road today. Inland sounds like a plan with the weather as it is at present.

I had planned t be on the road by now myself but life doesn't stick to any plan or at least not the ones I make lol.

Packing up and getting organised has  taken me longer than I thought it would, thankfully things are now falling into place so I WILL be on the road by the end of March....I'm so looking forward to travelling and seeing this wonderful country of ours.

With the approach of autumn I'm heading north, I don't have any solid travel plans so I guess I'll wait and see where the road takes me.

Enjoy, keep safe......Kim
