Walking aid when travelling and caping

I often wondered  . ....is there are many solo people traveling who have

to manage  a walking disability?

I often. need to use a walking stick, My crook back is a constant problem

, sometimes it causes  me to be restricted when walking but sometimes

I walk about ok.   Pain also comes and goes.

I don't see many campers with walking sticks

I have one in the van just in case, so far no I haven't used one.
Have met some with walkers and also a ride on scooter. They all manage well.

Be like my Dad, my van. When he turned 90 he started to use a walking stick, using the excuse that it would be handy to hit any dog who attacked him!
Have seen quite a few sticks and walking frames around caravan parks, doesnt seem to be a problem to anyone. I guess you'd have to be careful with the step up into your abode.

I discovered the value of walking sticks when I went bush walking. It's great for eliminating spider webs in dense undergrowth (or just waving it around in front if you can't see anything but suspect something). I feel safer carrying one in case of snakes or whatever. And they really do make climbing rough terrain a lot easier. I bought 3 canes at Sams Warehouse a couple of years ago for $5 each and carry them with me always even though I don't need one for normal walking.

I always carry a fold up walking stick in my van, since I broke my foot. Was bloody handy when I then broke my ankle and needed to go to the loo. I'm almost tempted to carry crutches, wish they had folding ones.biggrin

G'day 'my van' and yes I am another with a foot drama which has grounded me a few times now from my get up and go scenario. Yep! Have a stick and should not have been so proud to use it last time as I came unstuck in a big way.
Now the ladies at the retirement home could beat me to a good game of Hopscotch.

Too proud to use a walking stick? The thought never crossed my mind. Pride is a load of old codswallop. My attitude these days is that I have nothing to prove to anyone.

Mobility scooters should have a roll cage. I managed to roll one I borrowed, rearranged Big W and got stuck in a $2 shop. They had to remove stands to get me out.
