Left Mt. Shank this morning to try for a powered site in Mt. Gambier but not a lot of luck. So I'm currently in Tantanoola, SA. working my way to the Flinders Ranges, but with htis heat I may check out the Yorke Peninsula - it has to be cooler there. After arriving & firing up the computer, a message from Firefly inviting me for coffee in Mt. Gambier was received, so will drop in tomorrow morning - for breakfast no less! Aren't there some nice people in this great land! Its always good to meet other GN's for a chat and to share information.
This is a pleasant spot (#10 Camps6) with a toilet but not much else: But there is a pub across the road!
I spent 2 days at Tantanoola last year and it was very nice. Tiger still in the pub and the meal was excellent. They had also just installed a brand new dump point which wasn't in CA6 hopefully in 7. I think there were some caves nearby that were brilliant to visit
The Kimberly Clark iconic paper pulping plant is no longer a landmark as you head for Millicent.
Seems the 'pollies' we elected have allowed cheap toilet papers etc from China and Indonesia without any import tariff, so many persons have now joined the Dole queue.
The detour scenic drive thru the 123 wind generation farm is great as you can get up real close and hear the blades swishing thru thru the air. The drive brings you into Millicent too.
Cooling rain yesterday evening, and constant light rain this morning...
Lovely to catch up and meet you Loki. Always nice to meet another lovely grey nomad. Hope you enjoyed your brekkie, even with overdone bacon. Safe travels and enjoy the rest of your time in south Aussie. Sharon

4WD with a ford ranger. The possibilities are endless.
Loki I am not sure if you are planning to visit the City of Adelaide on your way through. If you are and you get in later in the evening you will find some car parks along South Terrace that are 12 hr parks during the day. There are also no parking restrictions on the continuation of King William St (main drag through the city) as it passes through the South parklands, there is a call centre close by and they must have people working night shifts! If you do stay you can walk into the city from South Tce with no problems and more to the point you can walk to the best fresh food markets in Australia, IMHO at least!

Have a look at caravan park in Beachport. The main park has a section that is at the top of the hill overlooking the bay and might catch whatever sea breeze is to be had.
Hi all, and Thank You Firefly for the lovely breakfast and company! Now to try to answer some queries/comments:-
Yes, the Tiger is still on the Pub! It is a great spot to spend the nite at Tantanoola and has a nice new dumpoint.
I planned to spend a day or two in Mt. Gambier but it was pretty full up with some big events on the long w/e. I did check the CP at Beachport but they had a convention on and were full up also.
I hoped to get a Parks Pass but was snookered by the long w/e. As a result, I plan to head to Naracoorte today and pick up a Pass tomorrow. Apparently they are only available from Parks Offices (you can get one online but it needs to be sent to an address, so not an option for travelers) AND most offices are closed on weekends & public holidays.
Thanks for the information on Adelaide but I most likely will travel straight thru: I've been there a couple of times and agree it is a lovely City!
Parks Offices only open mon/friday ,appears to me to be another poor cutomer service. That is when most people want to access these parks. They have them open more or less 24/ 7, depending on weather conditions, but no access to purchase a pass on week ends.It is not a problem if you are on the road full time ,and can hang around until the monday, but if you are only on a short stay in that area you just drive on .Always wondered why the tourist / visitor info places have not been allowed to handle these passes out.
