Police threat over Wicked Campers

I would not like to be on the road with either a dope smoker or a drunk , in my view one is as bad as the other.

Do you mean a drunk or someone who likes a drink? There is a big difference.

If you do mean a drunk then I think it's a bit unfair to compare a drunk to someone that has a social joint occasionally....regardless of the legallity of it

Sorry people for leading the thread astray again. banned.gif

As for it 'not bothering other people the way alcohol does', I beg to differ. Even though I don't mix with people who use it, two young people I know have been left brain damaged from using it in their teens. It's been a huge tragedy for their families.

And it does bother me as much as excess alcohol does.

.........................................................................................................................

At a 'welcome' party in Darwin after cyclone Tracey in the 1960s (I went up in the reconstruction team for 3 mths) they were passing round hand rolled smokes.  On closer inspection I found that it was weed. (yes .. that weed).

Even though I smoked in those days I declined.   I have enough issues with my current habits & decided that I certainly didn't want another, so I declined.

The stuff was readily available at no cost to mates.

At the Sunday night jam sessions out at the old gun emplacements the place stunk with that destinctive smell.  Just to be 'in' I smoked those dark brown cigarette sized honey dipped cigars.  I think that they were called cigarellos & had a small ivory coulered plastic tip/holder.  I still love the smell of cigars.

Gave up smoking in 1969 but booze is another story ... still an almost a bottle of white a day person.  But with regular periods of abstinance.  Just to show myself that I can.

A good mate gave up drinking at about the same time but kept smoking ... lungs stuffed now.  He can hardly get round the place thesedays..

Jeez, I gave up a bottle of white a day a long time ago. Two's better. But now it's none, dammit. Radio therapy has done something weird to my taste buds and given me dry mouth, so the plonk tastes bloody awful. I can still enjoy a beer though, thankfully. But I do miss the chateau cirrhosis. As to pot, no thanks. Tried it once and became so damn paranoid it was scary.

That's a gamble we all take every day,It sure is a scary thought though.I could not give a rats if who ever wants to drink to excess or take drugs. What i dont like is the damage all this behaviour does in most cases to the innocent person, who may be in the path of these pests on the road.

As a taxi driver for many years, I would tell my customers I took to the airport, that the most dangerous part of their journey was now over......
