Watching the news tonight saw the article on the devistation caused by the mini tornado that crossed the NSW/VIC border today .I would like to let people know thay my thoughts and prayers go out to you for a speedy and safe recovery. I Trust that the GNs involved in this are all safe ...Good luck to all ....Alan the Mongrel
G'day I second that Mongrel, just watched the news in Tassie, glad I wasnt in the area, looks like toatal devistation. Hope all caravaners and people Ok. They did say that there was 2 serious injuries. Speedy recovery to all.
I watched it on telly too. Scary stuff! Looks like a whole caravan park was destroyed. Those interviewed were permanents, so I'm not sure if any GNs were affected.
Well all i can say is ...............your'e not a mongrel at all, makes us all think about the realities of living in vans, though lots of houses were destroyed as well.
Fortunately we were not in the direct hit of the tornado last night but still had two fierce storms hit us. I had gone to bed with earplugs in (the noise was quite loud) and woke to feel the van moving. Hubby didn't have ear plugs so he knew it was the storm and wind that was moving us. The river we had parked beside for five lovely days was a raging roar this morning. It had risen by at least 2feet.
I saw it too, it's scary to know that Mother Nature can be so fierce. With all these tornadoes, floods, wildfires, etc you would have to plan these trips carefully.
My house is a transportable, so when we get hit with bad storms, we hear and feel them like being outside. One storm drove the rain into the house through the windows, we lost all 3 front bedroom carpets, and the hail destroyed the fly screens...thank heavens for insurance. I'm not sure how bad it might get in a caravan though...I have lived in one for years with my parents and sister, and I can't remember ever having storms that bad.
I hope the people that were hurt are ok, and those that lost their homes are insured.
What a terrible situation to be in for these poor people ,What could one do in caravan park for any saftey. As in most c/ park there is only a laundry/ toilet block and some times a BBQ area, i have not stayed in that park ,so do not know the lay out of it, but it looked quite big from what i could make out on the TV news.....And on the other side of the state in Vic they have bush fires again. The leson is to always keep abrest of the weather when ever travelling.
Well we can certainly say that we have been through something like that. On Australia Day weekend we were on the very top of Tamborine Mountain when cyclone Oswell came in for a visit, Sunday and all that night was terrible as blew all day and night with no let up until Monday morning, it was one of the scariest nights we have had for a long time. The only thing we could do was to ride it out in the van and we felt very safe in it, but that is different to a tornado

How lucky were you to get out unscathed in that kind of situation,
