Corryong..........Man from Snowy River Festival

Any members here been to or are planning on going to this festival, which begins on the 4th April, hubby is desperate to go I am not so keen as I am sure it will be hard to get some place to camp, as I imagine will be very crowded. If anyone has been would be interested in your thoughts.

Thanks

I have heard great things about it but never attended it, there is supposed to be camping available, go to their website. and have a great time if you do end up there.

Hi Pauline, we've been to The Man From Snowy River Festival many times, and it's a great experience, everything from bush poets, street parade, camp drafting, a reinactment of the rides from long ago, whip cracking, there was even a horse whisperer at one Festival. And of course there's stalls selling all manner of things and the obligatory Bar for those with a thirst. I don't think you'd regret going, lovely town, wonderful area to explore if you wish - and of course, all things horses. We have been fortunate and stayed with friends when we've attended but you could try ringing the Colac Colac (pronounced Clack Clack) caravan park, about 7 ks out of town. It's a large park, grassy and with plenty of shade trees,  and  if you would be happy with an unpowered site you may get lucky. There's also the Mt. Mittamatite Caravan Park just on the edge of town and there is a camping spot on the river just over the bridge at Towong, which is about 10 or so ks east of town. I wouldn't leave it too long before I tried to book a site at a park, I think it would be a good idea to Google the Festival and get a number so you can speak to someone for some local knowledge. Hope all goes well for you, cheers, Annie

thanks Annie, have checked the website out and hubby is desperate to go so am thinking of hiring a campervan for 4 nights as too much trouble to take van as we are presently installed at Pakenham CP, the website says there is camping at the recreation reserve at golf course so was thinking of that, once again thanks for the feedback.
