Darn it John! From hard experience we understand the frustration of dealing with all this bureaucracy, hang in there, it will be worth it. You'll have to stop eating to save some money!
Looking on the bright side the coaster will be worth so much more when all this has been completed.
It seems to me that the previous 2 owners didn't have the determination to solve the problems caused by registration,
The other hassle is that until the GVM has been reduced my C license does not allow me to drive it.
Good job that Chris is having some holidays, hopefully I can get the GVM reduced before he returns to work. John
What if you removed the solar panels or other things until you get it inspected John, would that put it within the weight limits for rego and driving? Add them after? Might affect your licence and insurance though later if your involved in a prang or the scalies (weights and measures) stop you on the road......
Vic it has nothing to do with the actual weight which is called tare and is 2820Kgs from a recent weighbridge it is to do with the maximum loaded weight that the bus can weigh fully loaded. GVM 4520kgs.
A bit unlikely that I will load over a tonne in extras. John
Thursday and we picked up the Coaster and found it to drive really well, Nigel had found it easier to change the seal due to the bolts coming out easily and accordingly charged me less so I was up for $165 instead of $200. The work done was a check over the new carby settings and wiring plus the front crankshaft seal. Chris drove the vehicle now that I found out that my license does not cover the higher GVM but hopefully tomorrow after the engineer has inspected the bus that will change.
Another plus was that the funds from PayPal for the antenna were depostited into my account last night. Phew!!!!
Friday afternoon and a big weight off my mind, the engineer only found a couple of things:-
1 The seatbelts had been upgraded from the original lap belt to lap/sash but they had done a slack job not using high tensile bolts.
2 No fire extinguisher or fire blanket.
3 The batteries were not sealed and could cause build up of gases with a potential explosion.
Bill has approved the coaster as a mobile home and therefore the GVM will be reduced below 4500kgs, all the paperwork has been done we have completed the actual work so we now have an appointment at 4.30pm tomorrow Saturday so the final photos can be taken and a compliance plate issued.
All the concerns about bifold doors have been groundless and I have swapped the deep cycle batteries from the Hi Ace. The only hassle was getting a sleeve for the new high tensile bolts between the outer and inner skin where the seatbelt is secured. John
So relieved for you John, i think in some way we have been on this journey with you in thoughts over the past few weeks.Only good things to come now,as you drive the white line.
