We are going at looong last out to the rock! starting out at lake Monduran on 23rd May going accross to Cania Gorge and then puddling our way out from there. retuning via Charters on return. this looks like a reallly interesting slice of QLD, Anything We shouldn't Miss???smilebiggrin

We had a week at Cania with great walks around the area....we stayed at the first c/park which is close to all the walks but the Big4 park is nearer the lake but you have to car it to the walks. Depends if you want to fish or walk but the t/t park is very nice. Have a great trip

We also stayed at the first caravan park - simply because we wanted to do the walks - nice park. The other one was nice as well, but we were happy we stayed where we did.

Cathy at Higher Ground is a lovely person, stayed with her for two months last year. Great camp.  Possibility I will be there again this year about that time.

May 27 Mulgildie (Monto)
May 28 Fishing Cania ( get permit) walking etc

29 May Emerald 332 spoke to Cathy $6 per night very easy going 406ks from Monto
30 May Emerald 332 spoke to Cathy $6 per night very easy going 406ks from Monto
31th (Friday)May Longreach 424 ks from Emerald Camp 355 longreach waterhole recommended good fishing
1st June (Sat) Longreach -really good value for money was the Paddlesteamer Sunset Tour, they pick you up where you are camped - yes even the Waterhole - take you out on the paddlesteamer to watch sunset, with nibblies and drinks (takeyour own) - then back to the drovers camp - delightful stew and fresh bread, lovely deserts, bush poetry, music, entertainment - with damper and billy tea to finish - and to top it all off - they drop you back to your camp!!!!!!! Great stuff! 
2nd June (Sun) Longreach
3 June Winton 361 free camp see Bladensburg National Park is situated just 7km from Winton township and was once Bladensburg station, one of the original grazing properties established in Winton in the late 19th Century. The property was officially gazetted as a National Park in 1994, and now offers the public a snapshot of station history at the old Homestead and surrounding buildings and Shearing Shed.

12th June Alice Springs 402 ks from marbles (G'Day Mate Caravan park ) Places to visit include, the Desert Park, Western McDonnells, Eastern MacDonnells out to Trephina Gorge, all the Gorges, RFDS display in town, Stuart Town siding, Motor Vehicle Museum, School of the Air, etc. Plenty of shops in town 
Make sure you go out to Standley Chasm and Simpson's Gap......not to be missed.  13th June (Thurs) Curtin springs $25 powered site 70 booked two nights power call up to that day to cancel 0889562906 - free for un powered site can leave van there if we want to go explore without it. 3 day Pass to park is $25 per person
