I could have asked the other day for you. The fee to get in to Uluru now is $25 per person for a 3 day pass. If you go West East you dont pay a fee when you enter the park but do need a 3 day permit to cross the desert - maybe that covers the park fee as well? I didnt ask how much that permit was.
Curtin Springs has free camping, and 8 powered sites. 80km form the park for those who want to just do a day trip.
I believe the permit for the road is free from the aboriginal centre in alice, I think you will need a second permit to travel the wa side also. If you have the permit you are not required to pay the park entrance fee. At least that's how I was treated in 2009. I pre arranged all my permits online well before my planned trip cheers blaze

That makes sense re 2 permits. The people I spoke to had come from WA and had that permit, but just came through Uluru park free as there is no-one checking at the west border.

We did it in 2010 west to east and got permits at the visitor centre in Laverton and I am pretty sure they were free for both WA and NT. they only give you three days to cross so all a bit rushed.
