Some have theirs insured by Ken Tame via CMCA membership, apparently it is cheaper and with good extra's through him even after discounting the $40 per annum annual CMCA membership ($60 first year joining).

Nick who you met in Denmark has his Nissan Civilian bus insured with them, even though he doesn't attend their rallies etc, just got a better deal with CMCA insurance agent.   Have to remain a CMCA member to use their insurer.

When I did my sums for mine, it was about the same to do it through SGIO/NRMA as I had a multi user policy discount, so didn't bother.

From what I hear Ken Tame is really good for your type of vechile.

We are with CIL and can't complain about the service. I have had one major claim where my bus was broken into with almost 20k damage done.

Cil was great in the way they handled it (even tho it took the repairer 8 months to fix).

I take my hat off to you John, its great to see a man work to a plan and furfill it. Hopefully we get the opertunity to catch up on the road sometime in the not to distant future.

cheers

Mike

I did my Ford Transit for about the same with SGIO/NRMA including windscreen damage (no excess) and about the same fringe benefits.

Bear in mind though that I had a multi policy discount (home contents and 3 other vehicles).  It was going to be $800 but because my 2nd driver was female it dropped to $600, safer drivers my customer service person said, for a $200 discount who is going to argue with that!

I have decided to go with CIL for my comprehensive insurance, the quote was cheaper than RACQ which was market value and CIL is agreed value covering the cost of buying the Coaster and the expenses getting it registered plus $1000 for contents.

Everything has been done now with the rego and now my licence is with Vic Roads.

Will be off travelling next week.

John

Good choice John, I had my A'van Aliner with them and they were excellent, I had a couple of claims with them and they were very efficient and fast.

They are also very strict with their repairers so much so that some would not deal with them as they would not accept sub standard work.

smilesmileGood one John - so your shake down trip went well? Where are you now? We are in Kalbar - near daughter - Solo Steve was here, left this morning, we will be here for a couple of weeks, got a few things to do around here, and it is pretty cheap - $90 week with power and water. Hope to see you on the road up here before long, unless we meet up somewhere when we are on the way back to the Murray. Take care.

Yes the shakedown trip went well, came back with a couple of ideas to work out. Am still in Frankston and will be till next Tuesday when I can pay back Larry for the shockies.

The first thing will be to visit halfpint (Patty) in Kyabram and then to see friends from Esperance in Lakes Entrance. Then moving northwards to escape the cold in the most direct route.

We will probably meet up before our proposed trip down the Murray. Good that you are having a good time with our fellow Grey Nomads.

John
