I am having a short shakedown run camping for a couple of nights at Bass River Reserve Camps6 #97. Waiting for the night to see how cold it will be here in Vic late April and not looking forward to it.
Had a really good run, the coaster runs exceptionally well and feels good on the road, sitting up high gives another perspective to the countryside. Am really happy with the gears the gate is very positive and allows smooth gear changes.
It runs at 3000 revs in 5th gear at around 70kph if I was being critical I would say that it is somewhat underpowered but the 5th gear helps.
This is a very nice quiet country camp ground offering flush toilets, camp table & bench with a good community fire area. I have been invited to join the other campers later round the fire, plenty of room for the bigger rigs and overall it is a good free camp when there are very few around. The river sounds better than it is at this time of the year. John
I was very tempted to throw all four dogs in the van and head on over, but I have semi stripped the inside of the van at the moment and have committed to helping a friends move furniture, that is teh disadvantage lol of having a van where the doors open wide at the back! lol

I am made up of flaws stitched together with good intentions.
Saturday morning and I have added a pic of the camp fire from last night, not so sure about this egg, bacon, tomato and mushroom breakfast that I just cooked. Too much trouble, very messy, flies, cold quickly and then the washing up, all too much for me in the morning. The last time was in Penguin using a council barbeque using cooking paper escaped the washing up plus I had company making it more worthwhile. Interesting to see how I fare with cooking a meal tonight. John
Exactly Gary ...... I just love my jaffle iron - egg for brekky, baked beans/spag for lunch, braised steak and onion for dinner followed by some peaches. Each meal washed down with a cup of billy tea. The fillings are only limited by your imagination.
All presented as little "pies" from the jaffle iron and the joy of looking at, into and through my open fire while cooking is so relaxing.
And minimal cleaning up.
Geez I LURVE camping
Cheers - John

Yep, John. Jaffles rule! Someone suggested pizza jaffles on my jaffle thread in cooking, and my imagination went wild with all the pizza goodies you could use in jaffles. Including mozzarella cheese! But, of course, that's not always practical when you're camped out in the sticks for long periods, so good ol' braised steak and onions comes in pretty handy.
They have a small 2ltr motor, and are flat out at 80kph plus. Its a lot of work moving that big body around. I would prefer the 6 cylinder diesel version. Still , John has done a lovely job inside. Bill
Greeting Earthlings, good to see the Stud mobil, is doing just great John, 70klm is a good speed,as you know i cruise at 80klm,Julie and me have had a incredible three days, had some amazing people visit us,,,hehehehe sooooooooo enjoy it John , catch up in awhile, Billeeeeeee

Most early toyo motors are very robust and do big klms without many problems. I,m not sure if its an overhead cam engine or pushrod, but they are simple and easy to fix, unlike a lot of modern engines. The diesels do 400000, klms plus, and have even have seen one in a landcruiser that had done 1 million klms! Good motors. Bill
John, Have you got a gps? You just devide the klms by the the ltrs fuel used . Its very accurate. I had the speedo cable in a hilux I had break, The electronic ones are more accurate, also.Bill
