We sold up everything in 2006 and built our van to tour Australia indefinitely. We luckily have a very clever brother (ex boat builder) who built this van to our specs - it was the 'prototype' - it will never blow away, it will probably float away or sink before it will leak, and it's the easiest home to clean ever!
It's made of 3mm welded aluminium, has a steel chassis, and all the cupboards inside are framed up in aluminium too. Solid and made to last. The only things we've needed to fix over the past 7 years are the extra fittings like hatches, hot water systems, tyres, the convection microwave is close to the end of it's life, and some fittings on the windows - just the extras.
It's called the Northwind 6.1 and there is one more in existence and another being built as we speak. We have a full ensuite in the rear, with a marine toilet (which all the van manufacturers wouldn't put in when we were looking to buy). As full time travellers we do carry a lot, but we are legally rated to carry this weight which is important when you're on the road - full time or not.
Hope you like our photos - we 'freedom' camp a lot (except when we're working & a van park is the only option) - but have enjoyed the camaradarie that comes with living in a park for awhile - (this means beaut Happy Hours!)
