Got cold feet

The weather report says plenty of rain on the way so I've got cold feet and am returning home.

I didn't get far from home but far enough for a trainee camper. Been camping for just over 2 weeks and feel very relaxed, I've not really felt alone at all and am already planing my next adventure.  Some may say 'Ya haven't really tried full on long distance camping yet' and that's true but I like to break into things slowly and as Solo Steve said "it might take me 3 years to get to Queensland at this rate"  Funny man ! but he could be right.

My experience showed me you are never alone while camping.  I've possibly met and had a yarn to least 60 people during this time, from lovely couples to motorhome convoys to female push bikers heading to Darwin and solo's all happy to share their travel stories.

One night there were 12 people all assisting me to cook a damper (my first) in my little camp oven. That night all had a taste and I got the "not too bad" nod.

Learnt a lot from these lovely, friendly people, like how to make a good size shower recess from tent material, a demonstration and tasting bushmans pancakes and the many ways to get a good shower to name a few. You all know what I'm on about....anyway...

I am so looking forward to my next time out.

Helen

Hopefully you'll soon get itchy feet again and be back on the road. Sounds like you had a terrific time!

I know I will be getting cold feet too in about a month when I head to Echuca. I bought myself a pair of possum/merino socks when I was in NZ back in March, hopefully they will keep me warm, will also wear my woolly boots and hope for the best..
No rain up here Helen although a bit cool, you should have kept on going.

Good on you for getting out there and giving it a go! It is all good experience and as your confidence grows you can travel accordingly. It is all about enjoying life.

Good on you Helen. Only a few more months and you'll be able to do that long trip.

Hey Helen well done for getting out there.  One step at a time.  I get cold feet all the time but then I just put on an extra pair of socks   I wouldn't let the weather put you off.  I reckon this time of year and the up coming winter are the best time to travel(says he who has been on the road only 9 weeks )

Re the shower enclosure.  I have an Oztrail double ensuite tent that was relatively inexpensive and works a treat.

See you on the road(soon!!)

Cheers

Wayne
