Probably several thousands going your way, smiley, pop yourself into some of the free camps along the way for a few days, get talking to others, sometimes that is the way to go. Theodore in QLD (Leichardt Highway) is a good place to pull up for a few days - hot showers, water and nice company, 700m out of the town, all for a donation! One lady we know is there for a few weeks yet, she has a small Nissan van towing a trailer - say g'day if you meet up with her, Margaret from Tasmania.
Have fun.

Hi Smiley, I've just stayed at a free camp in Bundaberg. Only has toilets and a few shaded picnic tables but was good for a night. Not sure if there is a time limit or not. Called the Bundaberg Lions Club Rest Area and is opposite the airport. I'm heading on north in a couple of days but I plan on staying as much as possible on the bitumen. I have an Xtrail but my camper is only a little one designed to go behind a motor bike so definitely not in the off road category. But hopefully we will meet somewhere.

Welcome to the Forum, Smiley! There is a very nice freecamp just in from Mackay - Camps6 #60 - Boulder Creek. Also, #162 - Little Yabba Picnic Area near Kenilworth is pleasant. Enjoy the freedom!

Thanks to the replies I can't wait to get on the road again, Just got a couple of things to tie up, Would you believe that I went to get a satellite dish mounted on the caravan roof, only to be told the next day that they can't do it, there is a hatch in the way!! Now it's back to plan B an on the ground one, And I have to get a satellite phone before the end of the month, That's when the Gov grant expires, Then hopefully I will be able to set off on the 28th!!YEH xx
