Mel & Molly in Emerald

We made it to Emerald after a fairly quick trip.  Now staying at Higher Ground Campground just out of Emerald.

Will be moving to Sapphire for a more extended stay on Monday I think.

Just going to do some fossicking for a couple of weeks and generally laze around.

If you happen to be in the area PM us for a cuppa.

Cheers

I have friends in Sapphire at the CP, a 5th wheeler with a dark grey 4x4 F350 ,Murray is around 6'8 in the old money and Jane is around 5'2. They have two little terriers called Bundy and Rum.

If you bump into them say hello from Trevor. They are a nice friendly couple and enjoy happy hour.

Hope your fossicking goes well.

Cheers

Trevor

Doug, Hi. You stay safe too. Love the fossicking. It can become quite addictive. Will be doing some opal fossicking at Quilpie on the way home too. May still get up Townsville way.

Trevor, We will be at the CP near the river, is that the one? Will certainly say Hi.

Gerty, Yes the temperature is certainly going down in Canberra, I suppose it is much better on the coast.

Thanks all

Hi Guys, Not sure if that is the one but if they are there they are easy to spot.

I have tried to contact them but no-go, They were talking about getting a property with a shed and power just out of town and may have moved?

Hi Sandy,

I'm travelling in a Ford Transit, (see avatar) with Molly (a long coat Chihuahua) and at the moment my sister and BIL. For the next two weeks we will be in Sapphire CP.
Sis and BIL will be heading for Quilpie after that. I am undecided at the moment its a little too early for me to go south so I am thinking of going further north. I will join them again late in September on my way home. I think.

Well, we have been in Sapphire for the last week and will be heading out towards Rockhampton Saturday going up the coast for as long as time allows then down inland to Longreach, Winton. Sis is going south so will meet up again in September.

Sapphire has been good fun, and I think I know what a sapphire looks like in the rough now.
Didn't find anything fossicking around, but have a bottle full of gems from buying buckets of wash. Cost me a lot more than they are worth but all good fun finding them.
Went to the markets that are held every Sunday morning and in general had a good time looking around.

Hi Mel,

might catch up again as I am also heading north, currently in Calliope and then visiting Sheba near Rockhampton. The broad plan is to go to St Lawrence, Boulder Creek, Home Hill and then Townsville and the camps just north.

No time frame probable take a week to get to Townsville.  John

Mel has been without internet over the past week but we have caught up here at St Lawrence and have decided to travel to Townsville slowly to arrive after next weekend. After the public school holidays and the Super V8 400 championship.

The Camps6 #86 reference to Carmila Beach suggesting walking over before driving the 300m narrow sandy passage before the camp ground has caused me to avoid Carmila previously. We plan to make Carmila our next camp and carefully negotiate the last stage.  John

After some great days travelling with yeoeleven, I am now in a caravan park in Airlie Beach for a week. Will then proceed to Townsville. Maybe the internet will be good enough to post some photos.
