NeilnRuth, works for me, typed Newcastle, NSW and there it was, 1525km. If I remember rightly , as it covers many countries, some of which are still using miles I changed the scale to metrics. Cheers

Handy site and had plenty of the smaller places i checked (ie Finke NT). The distances seemed close to the mark, but the driving times can be a bit hit or miss.
I guess it comes down to where the info was tabulated.. But I always calculate an average speed of 9o kph on main sealed roads and secondary/ non sealed roads at an average 80kmph depending on your tug and what you are towing. This is without refuelling and refreshment breaks

I worked out how to change it to kms and it must be fairly accurate as it was about 15 mins different to the time we take to do the trip - and we would stop for fifteen minutes to have a cuppa!
You enter your start point and your end point and it calculates the distance and time - just like every other trip planner, straight down the New England Highway.
BUT, here is the good bit, you can include extra Add Via options, so if you wanted to go via Lismore, you just add it, it changes the route to suit and shows the new distance and time. I've added up to EIGHT Add Via points without problem. Another good thing about this one is you can also set Fastest, Shortest or Avoid Freeways as your calculated answers.
I use it all the time - from pre-planning a trip on the home PC, to using it on the road on my laptop.
Regards, Brian

Certainly an interesting site ... but I use Google/Get Directions constantly and find it extremely flexible and accurate. This is particularly because I can put in almost unlimited 'via points' to plot different routes - including GPS co-ords as well as place names.
I noticed the DISTANCESCALC.COM shows that it is "Powered by Google". [edit: ditto distancefrom.com] Oh well ... another website to puddle in for interest but I'll still use Google.

I like Google Maps get directions too. One of the handy features is if you want to make a detour from the suggested route you can simply drag the route line to your preferred detour.
