Carmila Beach

We, Mel and I, set off from St Lawrence early and arrived at Carmila Beach by mid morning only around 75kms trip.

The warning in the Camps6 #88 about loose sand was accurate, we pulled into the first sign that nominated rubbish bins and found good spots with sun and level. We went for a walk on the beach and came back via the camp ground and toilets, there were areas everywhere where you could get bogged without 4WD. Pleased we didn't venture further into the camp ground and happy to stay here for a couple of days, the nominated limit is 72 hours but it is hard to see this being enforced.

The weather here is terrific, warm, sunny days and parked right on the beach it is hard to beat this lifestyle. The barometer in the van registers 32 degrees, can't see me moving inland for some time yet.   John

Sure is a grate spot their John, How are the midges ,when we were last week end they were very friendly.

We did the good Samaritan deed while we camped up ,,not once but twice pulling two motor homes out of getting bogged ,one was so bogged, and him trying to get out of it him self ,but in reality bogging down deeper he ripped the water tank away from the body of the underside of motor home and some other damage .To me it looked to be a very expensive free camp for him. They were almost at the waters edge, just for a better view.

Never did see any midgees but then we didn't forage through the trees looking for wood.

Wednesday and went for a walk in the opposite direction up the beach and found a lagoon area which at high tide was full and some were fishing there. I went out on the spit of sand which seemed never to get submerged with high tide to take pictures back across the sea to the camping area. Just has to put a pic of my head incase you didn't believe that I had been therebiggrin.  John

Hi John, I have been driving by that turn off for years. Will be down that way in a few months so will take the time to drop in for the night.

I'm usually in a 4WD and off road camper so the sand shouldn't be a problem.

Cheers, Rick.
