My wife and I travel with our dogs, we clean up after them as well, it makes me laugh a bit when people complain, a lot of camp sites are also visited by the local wild life, wallabies, possums, kangeroos etc and I havent seen anyone running around cleaning up after them. I do think Judith had every right to be peeved with a dog doing its busyness under her awning, but otherwise I agree I have seen a lot worse left by people, disposable nappies are a pet hate of mine. I have seen them dumped everywhere. Then of course there are cigarette packets, Maccas rubbish etc. It dosnt matter where you go there will always be those who are going to be iresponsable. My idea is to just act how I would want others too and hope they follow. I clean up our site always and if possible try to make it better than how I found it.
I hope Judith continues to travel and has the plaesure of meeting some of the many good pet owners out there. As for leaving my dog at home, on the occasions I do he sits at the door and howles, so I am sure he prefers to be with me.

Caravan parks are for people, not dogs. It makes no difference whether they're pet-friendly. Please bear that in mind if you choose to bring your dog with you, as I will.

In fact my neighbour's 12 little rodents are yapping right now, as they will do every second minute of every single annoying day until they die.

I have seen more well-behaved dogs than kids in parks who seem to scream and carry-on of an arvo during "Granny Nap" time.

Well Dorian, I actually can sympathise with your annoyance at dogs that bark continuously, I've lived in places where that kind were next door and it can drive you nuts. I confess one of mine barks a bit more than I like, but as I never stay in CPs I don't suppose he'll ever bother you. And when I'm home, well, my nearest neighbour is a prawn farm some 600m away. Just how I like it.

PS  I don't eat seafood so there's no compensation for the sound of the aerators at night!

rather put up with dogs any day than the MONGRELS that run generators all night

We stayed at a great park at North Haven and the big sign said, " dogs welcome, keep your kids on a lead" i thought how cool was that and more than appropriate in many cases.
More mongral kids out there than dogs.

Not sure about dogs but I reckon Judith may well have a couple of roo's loose in the top paddock.

Wow I've been away for a couple of weeks, & haven't been looking at the screen. Too many good things to see, & people to talk to, when away. I haven't seen a topic attract attention for as long, as this one has. Good to see most of the comments are from fellow dog lovers.

I had to leave my girl with a friend for a week while away. I know she would have been loved to bits, but i still missed her. Its amazing the companionship you get from a dog.

Judith, I symapthise with you. I am a dog owner and travel with my dogs, but they are always kept under control. They walk miles with me each day.
I do not take them to receational areas to defecate, I either pick up their poos or bury it, depending where I am. At the moment I am staying in Agnes water which allows dogs under control, what a joke, at the moment there are at least 5 dogs walking around loose and peeing and pooing whereever they like. It is dog owners like this that will eventually mean this camp will not allow dogs.

 lucky you to be able to walk miles. Some of us can't anymore. I'd rather step where a dog has been than where some human has spat or left broken beer bottles or used syringes. Perhaps we should ban humans.

thought I was being a resposible dog owner. The anti bark collar is the citronella type.

Works beautifully too. As for the de-sexing . That had already been done

when we got him (would have done it anyway).

 I had both mine desexed as soon as possible. Frustrated male dogs can be very annoying and IMHO it is cruel to leave them whole & deny them the resultant needs. Besides mine are pedigreed & there is a real risk of them being stolen, so the snip & the chip have made them worthless to anyone but me. As for the anti-barking collar, I've just ordered one which has a remote control that can be used to make the collar vibrate and/or deliver a high-pitched noise. I know it's unkind, but so is having to have him put down because he upsets everyone with incessant barking, and I am at wits end on how to stop it. I rescued him from an abusive home when he was about 1yo, and he has never really been "normal". I think malnutrition as a pup must have done permanent damage, but still, he's an affectionate little chap and OK when there's nothing to frighten him (& he's frightened of just about everything but especially people he doesn't know and big dogs). So, the RSPCA may not approve but they would have put him down because he can't socialise, but I think he's worth persevering with.
