Ice pick English, if that's any help. Bon jour, mon ami. Newspaper under the wipers was a trick I used years ago in Young during winter.

What a great idea Gary, so you just spread out the newspaper on the windscreen and pop the wipers on top to hold it there? I suppose that with the silver fold out protector on the inside would keep it all a lot warmer.
Myrtle wasn't very happy with the weather here in Echuca today. She protested very loudly before giving in and allowing me to go into town.

Yep, just spread out the newspaper and hold it down with the wipers. No comment on ice pick English? I thought it was rather clever. Oh well...

I've had frost so heavy that as soon as I took the newspaper off it frosted up again! This was 5.40am in Queanbeyan, heading to Canberra for a 6am shift. Sometimes I wonder why I retired....

Ok Gary, got it at last. Its this retired frost-free brain who is a bit slow and relaxed nowadays. Glad you speak English, don't understand any other languages.

I was in Young (first job in radio) when I learned the newspaper trick. As with your experience, Gerty, the windscreen frosted up again and I had to drive to work at sparrow's with the window wound down and my head stuck outside. My nose was an ice block. Spent some time in Queanbeyan and Canberra too. All cold places in winter.
