My first (big) boat


Here is a pic of the first big boat I built after I got out of the army. Its a 30 ft steel trawler called "the Gannet". Still floating as far as I know,last seen at Innisfail,before Yasi.Built in 1976, of 3mm steel. Good boat.  Billgannet.jpg

You must be a pretty handy bloke, Bill. I've never built anything in my life... except a cubby house as a kid. One night it rained and I went down the backyard to see if the cubby was waterproof. It was, and I remember being totally chuffed about that.

That was the first-I have built 5 other to 15m since then, and as far as I know, They are all still floating.Crossed the Tasman on One.Like building things. Bill
