Hmmm - interesting - especially as my neighbour says his liver isn't good. His birthdate falls in those years. Should mention it to him.

Its a fairly easy blood test for diagnosis. While it was once thought of as a "junkie" disease as it says in the article, also people who work as carers or nurses can be exposed to Hep C as well as Hep B. Back in the old days we didn't wear rubber gloves the way we do now. Yes I have had tests, all clear.

Yes, Gerty, when I started nursing gloves were for wooses, or sterile stuff in OT. Even caught a few babies without gloves.

I'd love to see the health services faces if anyone of us ever made a claim over diseases like Hep C.

I spoke to a plumber once who reckoned Hep B and C were risks for them as well.

Now, if you add into that all of our exposure to asbestos, you'd worry yourself to death.

Yep, Rosie.
Was a Victorian trained Ambo/Medic back in late 60's early 70's and never wore gloves working on accident victims on the side of the road in rain etc.
Moved to Far North Queensland 30yrs ago and every Doctor took a blood test for diabetes but now in Yeppoon (near Rockhampton Central Qld.) you have to ask for the test.
Our problem now is coal dust or particle pollution which they say is worse for you than smoking. Oh well, cannot wait to be back on the road.
