Let me give you a warning Rosie. If you start quilting it will be like genealogy - addictive! You will always be thinking of the next project. Some even have a cupboard full of UFOs.
Also " the person who dies with the biggest stash wins!"
Pam I've sat and looked at my stash and have decided I will not have enough days left in my life to use it so I must not buy anymore. That is the idea at the moment anyway. I don't want to win the 'biggest stash when I die' competition. And I'm pleased to report I am binding the flannelette quilt so that will soon be another UFO completed. I need to make some more things for the CWA shop to use up some more fabric (trouble is, they keep giving me other people's leftovers that come in!)
I am doing a Lucy Boston quilt and it's a great way of using up scraps. Every block is different so no worries about colour co-ordinating. I have a small stash compared to some friends . Our Quilters club does a lot of charity quilts so the stash gets used for that too.
I find it very hard to walk into a quilt shop and not buy anything. Congratulations on finishing a UFO. I only have the LB going at the moment and I think that will take a long time it's all by hand and really I am not in a hurry to finish it as it is very enjoyable.
Hi Rosie, I wish my little buddy would wear a jumper, I would love to have tried your pattern. Whenever I put a jumper on him, he just stands there like a statue, and won't move until I take it off. What a silly little fella.
Is there a website for Lucy Boston Pam? It sounds very interesting and just the right thing for 'on the road'.
Google Patchwork of the Crosses or Lucy Boston. I just bought the book Patchwork of the Crosses. I just use a template and cut out using my scraps. I have bought some fabrics but not a lot. I will add some photos of some of my blocks, pretty much make it up as I go. Mine started as a table runner and has grown into a lap quilt. Will add something tomorrow. Pam
Neilnruth, here are some photos of the blocks, I do cream as a finish, they will be all joined together (one Day) by diamonds and squares in a fabric of which I havent picked yet. this quilt will be just a mix of my scraps but I have seen it done in all shades of one colour(blue) , mixed fabrics surrounded by lilac checks (looked stunning) its one of those patterns that looks good in any combination.
I once started a cathedral windows runner and it grew into a large table runner to cover my sewing cabinet. In the end after I searched Australia for some matching fabric that I had run out of, I threw it in the bin as I hated it and I was very disappointed in it. I am not good at cathedral windows and probably will never attempt one again.
