Now I am confused last year I went to Upper Liverpool Creek but posted thinking I was at Liverpool Creek Rest Area http://yeoeleven.blogspot.com.au/2012/08/liverpool-creek-near-innisfail.html Now this year I was intending to go to Japoonvale Rest Area from WikiCamps and found it to be Upper Liverpool Creek in Camps6 #20 a day stopover. I stayed overnight last year and intend to do so again now although there is a NO CAMPING SIGN. It looks like Wiki is inaccurate in calling it a free campsite and I was in the wrong place last year. Still confused?????
Not to worry I was getting old last year but now have it all under control!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK back to the story I left Tully Showgrounds early and drove to Wongaling Beach to find Bali Hai a small caravan park catering for those who want excitement sky diving, not that it particularly interests me but my friends from Townsville Chris and Roz were booked in there and I wanted to visit. Sure enough they were there and we had a good catch up followed by a nostalgic revisit to Mission Beach where I had spent time in the Council run caravan park. http://yeoeleven.blogspot.com.au/2012/06/mission-beach.html
So where from here? have decided to take up my free Paronella Park ticket and camp outside. Still waiting for Rod and Heather to get their new generator so we can meet up at Babinda, hence the day stopovers slowly creeping north. John
Beaut place Mission Beach, I cannot comment on the caravan parks,as we just stay with rellies when ever we are there.
But the price you quoted for a week in the van park sound fantastic, considering where it is located.
While we were there this last time we went for the three island boat tour, think it was $50 per person but a good trip and well worth the money.
We were allowed to have a look around where you are allowed to camp in the National Park area of Dunk, but the rest of where the resort is/ was is now owned privately by some wealthy person. The company who used to own it rebuilt it after the first cyclone, but along came Yasi and destroyed it again so they took the insurance money and run with it. This guy who owns it now will never rebuild the resort for paying customers to stay.
He has done up some of it to live in.
On the Saturday night it was his daughters 21st and looking out ,watching the fire works display was like watching the new years eve celebrations they put on in Sydney.
Not often you can watch the Variety Bash from your living room without TV. There were very many all honking as we waved and took photos. Another day in the life of Riley, John
Who needs TV and all the hassle it can cause re reception/sorting out sat dish and then the hassle of all that extra weight carrying it around,if we were on the road full time there would be no way I would want or need TV.
If you are going to sit and watch the idiot box my thoughts are you may as well be sitting back in the comfort of your own lounge room watching it.
We have two in the new van one in the bedroom that can be taken off the brackets and then hooked up out on the side of the van and then another one in the lounge section that has been turned on twice in just over two years.
Enjoy every second of it all John while you can.
Where the cars in the bash heading north or south as we may get to see them,we are heading north tomorrow,we are at rallies farm out of Mareeba at present.
