Broad plans after Babinda

Clearly the laptop has to be received here before I can move on but what to do then?

There are several camps in the Dimboola State Forest near Atherton and they will be my first objective, via Gordonvale and up the hill towards Atherton. In have been told of some free camps around Atherton and I will be able to collect the MP3/4 player from the P.O. there. Then down towards the lava tubes via Ravenshoe and follow the Kennedy Highway and down to Fletcher Creek again.

Charters Towers but this time not down to Clermont and Emerald but across to Hughenden and down to Winton and Longreach, have been told good things of Isisford and surrounds. Emerald and then Biloela and back to Calliope heading down to Gin Gin where by then I will have ordered an awning to be delivered to Jack Mack's place where we can fit it. By now it should be October and the plan will be to go back to the Gold Coast.

Then who knows probably further south and meet up with Billeee and Jules around the Murray then Green's Lake........................Broad plans but I have to have some idea of direction, some can be more casual than me with no direction at all but the experience of a lifetime is hard to shake.   John

Your rough planning sounds good John - make sure to go on the paddle steamer cruise to the drovers camp at Longreach - you book at Kinnanes(?) in town - well worth it!

Yep - we have plans to meet up with you on the Murray - spend Christmas together - and some time at Greens as well. Take care till we meet up again! Hi to June!

When you get to Winton have a look at "The Bladensberg Nat. Park. There are camp sites available and all are accessable by 2 wheel drive, except in the wet.

These are not free camps as it is a Nat. Park but well worth the few Dollars to camp. It would take at least three days to do the place justice, but the roads are good and topography unreal.

Even if you just drive through in one day you will get a feel for the place.

Just my thoughts.

John,
visited Babinda Boulders today. Had a cruise around the camping ground but couldn't see the Coaster, so guess you have moved on.

Sorry to have missed you but am still here in Babinda at the top of the grassy area before the gravel, not so conspicuous as the Hi Ace.

Hope to move on next week but still waiting for the lap top to be delivered to the P.O.

Oh, well. Another time. We had planned to move up to Cairns today, and I was going to have another look for you at Babinda - but the Driver not feeling great, so we started the long trek south instead.

You are in a pleasant part of the world for waiting around in, anyway.

We wthat to Winton from Hughenden when we were in Qld last year. Watch the road it's a bit of a roller coaster. Parts of the road to Longreach were being repaired but the edges were still very rough and still suffering from road train damage.

All that considered we had a great time in that area.

Enjoy and travel safe

Brian.
