PA130001.JPGPA130002-001.JPGPA130004.JPGPA130003-001.JPGHi,  Some awnings have the vinyl right to the edge. So it can be difficult to put the strap on sufficiently. its a good idea though.

It amazes me, with the cost of awnings these days, that you would think  they would have devised a strong tie down incorporated into the product.

What I have done is : Dometic -model...remove the bolt from the top of the leg either end  (when it is rolled up)  It is only about 2mm long.

Then go to Bunnings or a good hardware and buy 2 galvanised hooks..stainless is best (see pic) with same thread and 2nuts to suit. The hooks are usually longer so you may have to cut them to length, allowing extra for the nut. Screw nut on fully and then screw hook into the thread, where the original bolt came from. I have 3 ties off each hook. I have experienced a strong gust which took my awning over the roof of my bus. Also have your base of legs pegged down or attached to side of van/motorhome.

I also have seen a roller with a tent peg supporting it after owner drilled hole in it and tied down.

Good ideas, both of these - think I like the Velcro and doglead clip though. Will get onto that asap! Thanks!

We use a flat okker strap, around the awning and into the loop  on top of a double guy rope.
