Time to move on from Isisford I arrived last Friday and am setting off today Thursday. The heat has driven all but a couple of campers we have had over 40 degrees since Monday and likely to continue until Saturday. When we left the place was deserted and not only there but at Blackall the free camp was deserted and I looked in the camps around Tambo with the same result. I carried on down towards Augathella and am camped at Augathella North Rest Area Camps6 #677 alone as expected, am I the only camper left in this region?
Perhaps so but not for long I will be getting to Charleville tomorrow morning for an appointment with an Auto Electrician, the gauges are telling me lies the fuel is full and the radiator must be empty because the gauge says the highest reading. All wrong and I was able to fix it by fiddling with the fuses but then the charging light came on so I will have an expert in the field to fix it properly.
I have had this heat and will be pleased to go east from Charleville and head towards the Sunshine Coast to get the new awning fitted. This campsite should not be dismissed and if your plan is to use it as a staging stopover it really is excellent with plenty of room and they have installed good bush toilets and that is not mentioned in Camps6.
I have had no phone since last Friday when I left Longreach but Telstra was available for the internet at Isisford but not here, hopefully I will get both services back tomorrow in Charleville.
Arrived at Charleville Friday morning and the auto elec is looking at the bus but still no phone or messages with Optus, Telstra is working and I am able to post. John
The auto elec found that the problem was in a small regulator behind the gauges that had corroded and was not delivering the correct current to the specific gauges, he was able to overhaul the unit and now all is well and I have moved on to Mitchell and am camped at Neil Turner Weir Camps6 #659. Set up the awning and expect to be here until Monday, still no phone since Longreach but at least I do have internet via Telstra. Need to talk to the company fitting my awning to make a definite time and place, hoping that whilst passing through Roma I will either get coverage or find a pay phone. John
You are right of course and I will open it up again but still won't be able to contact the guy in Maroochydore who is fitting the new awning. Want to set up a date and location for the job. John
Phew, John, 40's. It looks like the bin is starting to melt in your pic. Take care in all that heat mate. You will get phone cover in Roma no worries. I had full Telstra cover when I was there.
