After getting all excited and arriving at the appointed park 15 minutes early, I have learned to get to Maroochydore by my own knowledge because the GPS gets confused with all the new highways but once there I let it loose and it took me to the park easily.
We did the quote over the phone whilst I was in North Qld. and I expected to need a 12 foot awning but the installer had a 13 foot one and said that he could fit it. Not so, there were complications with the power socket and the roof line is ridged towards the rear. Nothing worked out with the 13 foot awning so we had to go back to ordering a 12 foot one to be delivered tomorrow.
All is not lost the arms are the same and they could be fitted and the sail track could also be put in place, the ridge was taken care of by using an aluminium spacer allowing the sail track to fit evenly the length of the awning. My old awning was despatched to the tip, I had thought of using the vinyl somehow to cover the drivers side windows but it was old and faded and didn't live up to the high standard on the outside of the palace.
I am camped by the Maroochy River on a boat ramp with as much of my windows towards the road covered and I am hoping to get out early without being moved on. More on that subject later with the address if I get away with it. Had lots of time this afternoon and went to the beach, wow that was an eye opener, haven't been to a popular beach for a long time. Plenty of time tomorrow until I get a call to let me know that the awning has arrived. John
Well I had no hassles camping overnight and I have moved out before 7am arriving last night at 5pm. The location is on Fishermans Road at the Bradman Ave end. Turn into the car park marked as Boat Ramp and park at the left rear next to the river on an unmade section.
So far so good all I am waiting for now is a call to let me know when to get the awning finished. Got a few things to do and need the GPS to find Ray's Outdoors to have the gas cylinder filled and an auto shop for some white paint to touch up where the old awning was. John
Really great there John. You will be able to whip it out in no time now and show off to the next lot of French or German Backpackers you come across now mate.
You will be able to get back to normal and slow down. Good on ya.
Edit....iPad done it again

Thursday evening and the awning is completed and looks great, I have driven to the Gold Coast and am camped at the Hinterland Regional Park where I camped previously. All I have done for 2 weeks is drive long distances between empty camps but it is all worth it when I see the new awning. Definitely not used to driving on 4 lane highways driving at my max of 80kph and have everyone whisk by me. John
Looks to be the same as mine John with the curved arms etc.
Just a tip, at the arm top caps, the bolts holding the caps on can be removed and replaced with ring bolts (can't remember the correct name for them - available from Bunnings) so you can use snap on hooks (also available from Bunnings) on the end of tie down ropes (for windy areas). Makes it easy for attaching the ropes if and when needed.
I had them on a previous RV, but hadn't got around to putting them onto my current one. I took one into Bunnings to compare bolt size and thread, although I got the ring bolt thread to match I needed to cut some of the length off. No need to pull the awning out can be done with awning in up (closed positon). Do not remove Cap when removing old cap or replacing new one and do one at a time.
Also handy is to buy some self sticking Velcro straps and put one around the top and one around the bottom of each arm for added support when travelling (see pic).

Good to see all your comments, I'll be down at Greens later this year not sure just when.
I suppose the awning is just like everyone's else's but it is a big deal for me and not easily come by, I have struggled with awnings from the beginning with the Hi Ace and now it can be easily put up and down singlehandedly.
Good one John, don't forget the Velcro straps on the arms for travel if you haven't already done it......gives you peace of mind if nothing else, if the black knobs snap off during the stresses of travel (bumpy roads etc, at least you have a back up....
