Hi all

I am a Grey Nomad in training and recently went to Rockhampton for the National Caravan Rally. This was our first big trip in our van and my first experience of free camping, we free camped all the way from Adelaide to Rocky and back to Adelaide

I just want to say that WikiCamps was the best $2.99 I spent. I found this  the best source of information and the comments and Photo's other people add where a real benefit when choosing or next camp sit. I must also say if your van is set up for free camping as pour is there is some really good camp sites out there that makes you question why would you stay in a Caravan Park and pay the dollars.

Just for the record I have no affiliation with WikiCamps.

Yes! A definite thumbs up to WikiCamps.  One of the best Apps around.  For me, I much prefer the App to the "Paper Versions".  I do update where possible and try to be as objective as possible without getting personal.

I absolutely love the Satellite Finder and the Compass.

Yes I forgot to metion that I updated some camp sites with abjective comments and photo's, I think that it is important to place comments/photo's if you can when you visit free camp as I found the comments and photo's a important part of our choice of camp sites and this will also help keeps the sites updated and most importantly help other travellers.

I am also a convert. I use CAW to plan the route as i like big maps in front of me, then use the wiki to plan our stops now.

Hi there Helena ... wiki camps you can download to your iPhone or iPad and I believe you can now get an android version.  Cost around $3. Check out their website or just google. available on the App Store.  Best on iPad as it it bigger than the iPhone. Unfortunately it is not a website where you can search for campsites for camp info.  They are actually working on a version to use on PC But I think that is a way off still.

Cheers,

Libby

Hi All.

I think in time it will be the way to go, I have not long purchased a Android Tablet and using a similar mapping system I traveled the length and breath of UK. It worked rather well.

This App. Is very close to it and I tried it last night planning a trip and it looks good. Worked good. Ralph

I am also a wiki camps user but I also save all the camp sites I see or hear and then transfer to my GPS.

Just be careful if you put any private sites on there they wont be private any more and the next time you go there it may be crowded.

Regards
Brian

We love this app, four months into our big trip and we use for our trip planing, caravan parks and stop overs, I find it more upto date than camps, I have both on the iPads but never use camps, it just has no real detail.

I agree it is important to post once we have stayed somewhere as it's a user generated site.

A travelling must have.

Mousey,  If you loose your current location, simply press the Round Icon  (a circle with 4 small teeth),  in the centre of the lower Mapping Menu Bar - It is to the left of the Flag+ Icon.

Sorry I can't describe it better that that.  But that will re-centre your map to your current location.
