This is not a RECOMMENDATION far from it

Sorry folks but this is not a recommendation.

HORSHAM CARAVAN PARK Firebrace St Horsham, this was recommended to us by the local tourist information centre. It was the most expensive $35.00 per night, It would have to be the filthest shower block I have ever seen, soap scum was so thick on floors & walls, I like to shower every day but this morn I realy had to force myself to have one. most sites were dirt very little grass around. Sorry to rabbit on but just wish to advise my fellow travellers. I will be writting to the local council.Horsham is abeautiful town very friendly people even the lady who booked us into the park but council should have a good look at it as it mars the beauty of the river and the town.

Rant over

Gday...

Interesting. This is a report put on Badger's Caravan Park Reports in April this year. Guess it has gone downhill quickly. Maybe change of management perhaps. cry

190 Firebrace Street, 1 km S of PO. Adjacent to the beautiful botanic gardens, Wimmera River frontage, huge lawn tennis complex and croquet greens and just up the road from the main city oval and about 500 m S of main shopping centre, on the east side of town. Ph: 03 5382 3476. Pets allowed, on leash at all times.

Very friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Good value for money ($32.00 1A, powered, shoulder season). We paid $28.80 because of RAA member. Amenities are close to most sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, no sites with annex slabs, very few sites are shaded, ensuite sites available, drive-through sites. Basic laundry, good camp kitchen, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Vodaphone, reception quality was 4). Quiet, open & roomy park, not enough shade. Clean UC bbq, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Suitable for few days.
Likes: Discount if you belong to Auto Association RAA, RACQ etc. Run by YMCA.
Date 04/2013. Park Rating 3.5:

ABOVE IS A POST I made in November please read below a response I received from Horsham Council.

Dear Bob

Thanks you for the information and comments pasted on The Grey Nomad forum. I have personally discussed your concerns  with the Horsham Caravan Park management team and had the Environmental Health Officer inspect the amenities at the park and advise on remedying the soap scum issue. The park is currently undergoing a Redevelopment Vision Planning project which as you commented will make it the jewel in our town. I would hope that next time you are past our way you will notice and appreciate an upgraded facility situated on the banks of the Wimmera River.

We appreciate you taking the time to advise us of your concerns regarding the Horsham Caravan Park, this is not always the case as some people just post and then it is difficult to resolve issues if we are unaware of them.

Again thanks for your comments and enjoy your travels.

blankstare Hi I do believe that the YMCA have the management of that park if it is the one down by the river so to complain to the council will do you no good so check up and see where the head office is in Melbourne and place your complaint with them as they have managers in there.

Regards

Don
