I went in last Thursday to have my Basal Cell Cancer removed from my chin. I was nervous, but I have had moles removed from my back and shoulder, so knew what to expect....
The Dr asked me what I was having done, I told him I was having a BCC removed from my chin. He asked me who told me it was a BCC, I told him my GP (his partner in the medical Practice). He told me in a sarcastic way he must be better at detecting them that he was
Anyway, I mention to him I take Asprin, he said that's fine (I bleed like hell) hes not interested. He gets everything ready then jams the local needle into my chin and shoves the plunger in as quick as he can. I almost screamed, and I cried out that it was hurting so much...plus I was now moving slightly, Ive had babies and this was worse the Dr pulled the needle out (and only then did the acid like burning stop) and sprayed me with the liquid, then said that's what happens when you move.... I burst into tears, but it was now numb and I just wanted it over with. After it is all over the nurse has to clean up all the blood that has run down my neck, I had to hold swabs on my chin for ages after to try to stop the bleeding. It stopped bleeding finally the next day.
Anyway I have a large red and black bruise below the incision where he put the injection. I am never going back to that butcher again...he delivered my premature son, when I was groaning with the pain he told me to shut up. This Dr has no manners, is an absolute pig and I am glad that's the last time I ever had to have him touch me. This is the only country Dr I have met that I hate.
Oh Grams, what an awful experience for you. I don't blame you for never going back to him. You should report him. Not that they seem to get punished anyway for these things. The medical people seem to just close ranks on each other.
My last biopsies were a bit of a disaster too, but not as bad as yours. He had three biopsies to do on my nose. He put the needle in, then I felt liquid spray across my face and eye. Luckily I had my eyes shut. I thought it was blood spurting everywhere, but my friend who'd come with me told me later that he pushed the needle right through and it came out somewhere else, so it was the anaesthetic spraying across my face. She said he pulled it back quickly and finished it off. So my nose wasn't numb when he started doing the biopsies. I didn't bother telling him I could feel it all because I just thought, get it over with, I don't want him doing another needle. When my girlfriend told me afterwards, I wished I had said something.
All the skin on my nose has to come off and a skin graft done. Mine is a plastic surgery job, and I've been on the waiting list since April. I'm done stressing about it now. There's so many people in those waiting rooms, it's no wonder the list is so long. Oh to have the money to go private.
OMG! This is terrible, sooo hope your chin heals up well Grams, no don't go near him again, and make sure you tell your GP and everybody that you know about the cruel bugger.
And hope your nose op goes well Beth, oh dear such awful doctors... at least you'll get a different surgeon for that one.

This one was the plastic surgeons underling, whatever they're called. The PS came in and marked my nose where he wanted the biopsies done, and left him to it.
Hi Grams and Beth? Hope your wounds are healing ok?
After your experiences I was worried as my partner had to have a BCC removed yesterday, by a skin specialist he hadn't met previously. Well its a good news story this time, he took off 2 BCCs and burned off several other spots, without too much pain and with friendly chat about caravanning and places they had been!
Beth, I hate it when Drs do that, pass you off to someone else. Especially when you trusted the Dr you saw to do the surgery.
My bruise is now purple and yellow...and the incision is healing as its itchy....unfortunately it started to go red at the bottom. I'll see how it goes, might be part of the healing. I'm going to see my GP on Friday so I can get him to look at it and take the stitches out.
Yes my GP would have done it, but he didn't feel comfortable doing it on my face. I would have felt more relaxed with him. Plus the worse news is my lovely GP is leaving at the end of this year. I'll have to find another DR now.
I went in the other day to have the stitches removed...the knots had healed within the cut, so the nurse had to cut them out a little. She said she had never seen stitches like this ever.
It is now healing well, still a little dark pink, but I think it's more healing than infection. And the bruise is still fading. I will ring the Drs today and find out what the results were.
Having problems with the dressing on my partners shoulder... the Dr took it off by scraping instead of slicing-then-stitching, and we are left with a wound about 15mls wide to dress. Even though he soaks it under the shower, it sticks to the dressing and starts to bleed when I remove the dressing to put on a fresh one.. even after 10 days. I use "non-adherent" melolin dressings. Have tried leaving it open to dry out but have to cover it as its on the back of his shoulder and the shirt rubs on it.. fortunately not painful though. Off to the chemist today for some jel-o-net, and advice.
Hard to give advice without seeing it.
Basic would healing though, after 10 days a shallow wound should be well and truly forming a scab.
When a dressing sticks, and start to bleed when you change the dressing like you describe, it may be you are lifting the scab formation, and so not helping.
Can you remove the dressing, and leave it open to the air for a day? or even a few hours. Can he manage shirtless?
I wouldn't be using jelonet on it.
Once you have a scab on it, a dry dressing won't stick any more.

I had one scraped and the skin clinic said to put paw paw ointment on it after a week. It was just starting to scabe over when it got infected after two weeks despite all my care, this happened twice. Had antibiotics and used betadine to dry it up. it took about 7 weeks or more to finally heal, I would never have one scraped again but have it incised as it would heal up much quicker.
Thanks Rosie, yes that's what's happening, the newly forming scab comes off with the dressing. I got him to keep his shirt off for a couple hours last night so it could dry out, but we've done that a few times and still it came off on the dressing next day.
Will work on leaving it uncovered for longer.
He had 2 others done and they are scabbed over and healing well, but on parts of the body not rubbed by clothes.
You're right Clare, the ones he had removed last time with stitches horrified me at the time, (looked like they had been cut out with a scone-cutter!!!) but they healed quickly.
Took your advice Rosie, all fine now, good dry scabs on all of them, no more dressings needed. Thank you.
Surprised how long these things take to heal though.
