Just a little slice of heaven.

Woke up this morning to a beautiful clear  morning at Rocklands reservoir, to be greeted by a family of kangaroos having breakfast in the next site. Mum had a joey in her pouch, and because it is so quiet here they are not really afraid of us, so they looked and continued eating, then mum decided she must have smelt danger and they slowly hopped away.

The day before I spent some time on the wall of the reservoir watching an echidna walking up and down it searching for lunch. The wildlife here is wonderful. The birds are just beautiful including the little Blue Wren who comes to visit daily and tries to play with the other one who seems to be in the hubcap of my front wheel. Funny little fella.

This place is worth a visit. The Reservoir supplies the water for the Wimmera Mallee area. Great walks along the Glenelg River and of course around the reservoir itself.

The range in the background of the photos is of course the Grampians.

Sherbet I don't think the dog would be an issue. The caretaker had 2 of them and people who came to use the lake to water ski and jet ski had dogs also. I am sure your pup dog would be fine.

Thanks Bryan it is a wonderful place and arrr the serenity.

Gary the stress is hard to take, but sheesh somebody has to do it. Now for the next thought process where to go tomorrow. Over the other side of the reservoir and it is not good at all. Very dry and not a lot of vegetation or wildlife, although have seen a huge rabbit and a black kangaroo or wallaby not sure. So will only stay one night here at Hynes Reserve and move on tomorrow.

So you are saying dogs will be allowed Sharon, might have to go have a look for myself. Sounds a wonderful place.

Hi Marj,

I do not see that there would be a problem at all. The caretakers dogs just roamed around free and easy. The facilities are not the cleanest but not the worse I have seen, but the water is hot and plentiful and actually quite soft so all good. The area though is just beautiful. I will put some more pics on my blog over the next couple of days. So many.

Shut the front gate!!!!!

What a journey so far Shekon, just great. You have slotted in well to the grey nomad life style for sure and I tell you that for free.

That Echidna looks similar to a wombat but very much cuter for sure.
