Rip has one which suits iPad and books.. about $20 from BigW.

Bookseat is another similar product. -thinking of getting one of these for the kids for christmas.

Me, I just used a pillow or a cushion - works the same.

beware - friend had a laptop die due to heat build up as she used it on her doona covered lap in bed - was advised to use a cooling pad

Yes, I posted somewhere else that I wondered if this would not allow iPad to 'breathe' and overheat.

My thoughts exactly, electronic devices used like this have been known to overheat and cause fires.

A neat idea but not one I would adopt.no

I don't know about iPads over heating, mine lives full time in a case which encloses all of it except the screen and the control buttons.... No problem.
I put the iPad still in its case on the book bag. No problem.

My I Pad tells you when it is to hot,it comes up on the screen ,but never has it done it while in the beanbag,so when it tells me it is to hot I just float it in a sink of cold water, only jocking  about the water.

Ipads don't need the same ventilation that laptops do, so they would be fine in a been bag..

I think the ipad would be fine in the bean bag compared to a pillow or quilt because the polystyrene beans have a very different thermal rating surely. Laptops rely on cooling fans so would smother.

Seems it can happen.

I bought a small square one for under $10 from a bean bag shop, works like a treat for tablet, ereader,  book, etc.

Those cases weren't necessarily from the device overheating, but rather the charging device being faulty. As previously stated, because the Ipad doesn't rely on air forced by a fan through vents for cooling, it is unlikely that putting your Ipad in a "bean Bag" will have any detrimental effect.
